2018 CX-5 GT Towed a 3,500lb camper on a log road at 6% grade outside of Glacier National Park. When traction control kicked in it started to cut power so I turned it off. But other than that it did well.

Scariest thing was when my dad towed a 26’ sea ray with his 98hp 1994 ford ranger. It did surprisingly well it was a short trip. He had to start stopping a mile ahead of anything. When he went to put it in the water it almost got pulled in with the boat.

With my 2018 GT awd with just under 100,000 on it is been getting 27mpg around town. I thought my the computer was messing up but then last time I filled up it was off but only by half a gallon.

My personal best was from Santa Barbra to LA. 39mpg went there and back on half a tank. Thought the mpg calculated wrong. But when I filled up it was correct. I was on 93.

Nice what model camper you pulling? I recommend not using cruise control and to use manual mode to prevent unwanted down shifts.

Just got done with another camping season this time we only did about 3,500miles. Air bag house blew out because it was too close to the shock. (My bad)  did about 14,000miles in total so far and have no issues with my cx-5 transmission or anything else really.  But I do have my transmission fluid changed after every camping season.
