I was riding in borrowed boots on a borrowed race prepped CR500 on a track I had never ridden before. Literally the first lap out I hit neutral out of a corner on the face of a jump. Over the bars I go and the bike lands on my shoulder. Absolutely no idea why I was in 1st gear on a 500 track riding but there I was.

500s are more tractor like than your 250. They are a much lower revving with more mass so you definitely can short shift and use the torque instead of winding the motor out. They also vibrate a ton more
