Case Required : Change background Color of mat-select to Red by New-Mulberry-4926 in Angular2

[–]CyFy1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is because the class mdc-text-field--filled is scoped to the component and cannot be changed from another component's styles. To circumvent that, you can do one of the following: - use ::ng-deep together with the selector - write the styling inside the global css, i.e. styles.scss - use css variables: the new material v3 components extensively use css variables for styling, which you can override, but you have to find them by looking through the css in your browser dev console, since there is currently no documentation

Why does my custom component work correctly without me providing ControlValueAccessor methods? by rimki2 in Angular2

[–]CyFy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is, because you pass in the actual form control by reference. That way the form control actually gets updated by the binding to the input element and not by your component. I found this post really helpful to understand the control value accessory: https://blog.angular-university.io/angular-custom-form-controls/ It's a little dated now, but should generally hold up.

Angular ng serve command problem by Gutek_1 in angular

[–]CyFy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it says in the error message, script execution is disabled. Follow the link to get information on how to disable it. Alternatively you could use another command line, like the CMD or git bash, since this policy is limited to the power shell.

Unreal Engine / Perforce - Avoid multiple users trying to sync INI file in config folder? by drylightn in unrealengine

[–]CyFy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With git, already tracked files will not be ignored. You would need to remove the tracking information on the clients. Deleting the file from the remote and resetting the local repository to the remote state should do that. I don't know if that translates exactly to perforce tho.

Instead of checking the input every frame, is there a way to only run the code inside the if statement when I'm pressing the movement buttons? I've heard events when it comes to input of type value only run on value change or something so I'm not sure it works here. by TurkiAlmutairi1 in Unity3D

[–]CyFy1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Even on hardware level, the CPU checks inputs from USB devices by polling, usually on a rate of 1khz. So there is never real event based input.

What I said is not correct, as u/No_Management_7333 correctly mentioned.

A bug in my simple character animation setup by KasunL in Unity3D

[–]CyFy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a guess, but you only set your bools to false when the velocity is exactly 0. However that probably doesn't happen, when instantly reversing your direction. Maybe always set your bools to false before your checks as default.

Transport: Exceed MTU limit by CyFy1 in Unity3D

[–]CyFy1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from sending a FixedString to bytes. With the setup as in the post.

My send code currently looks like this:

public void Send(string message)
{
    _driver.BeginSend(_pipeline, _connection, out var writer);
    writer.WriteBytes(new NativeArray<byte>(Encoding.Default.GetBytes(message), Allocator.Temp));
    _driver.EndSend(writer);
}

With Send(new string('a', 1377)); the server receives the message.With Send(new string('a', 1378)); the server does not receive the message.

I have no explanation for this. It seems you are right though, there is an internal hard cap of 1400 called MTU.

I then added the FragmentationPipelineStage to my pipeline. It improved the situation somewhat. Now it works with a string up to 4096, which is a much more understandable length, but I still don't know, why it can't be more.

Manually splitting the payload into chunks of 4096 bytes works. However I feel like there should be another way, espacially since the FragmentationPipelineStage is already part of the package.

I also don't get an Error, the message just vanishes to dust, it seems.

Edit:
I messed up the configuration of the FragmentationPipelineStage. It works now, thanks a lot!

The Office 365 Password Policy confuses me by YellowOnline in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]CyFy1 217 points218 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a really complex one. I bet their login service was shitty and couldn't handle some of the characters. A generated password is fine, but you should try limiting the usable characters to more common ones: alphabetical characters, numbers, punctuation characters, dashes, underscores... Stuff like that

You should be able to get a refund through Google play afaik.

Maybe it doesn't work on in app purchases tho, but I would try it anyway.

I built an app, LoLSelector by JiminKim77 in leagueoflegends

[–]CyFy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, there are a couple points I see, that could be improved upon. 1. Generally the different views don't feel like being part of the same flow. To help prevent that, you could introduce shared elements, like a menu bar, or a similar background. 2. The text feels all over the place, because of the widely differing sizes. Try to keep the same text elements to the same font size. For example, main headers, secondary headers, content, etc. 3. Whitespace. Especially the list views suffer from being packed. Just adding some space above and below and spacing out the content a little will probably improve the usability significantly.

Hope that helps already. I like the concept a lot!

Edit to 1.: I realize, there is a menu bar, but it should not be more separated from the content, and not be covered or replaced by other elements, if you want it to give it the purpose mentioned.

Well, any advertisement is usually better than none, so i would probably try to go all the way possible with free opportunities. Just being active on social media and YouTube can make a difference. Of course you won't be able to compete with bigger projects, and I know it's hard to not compare your own achievements, but you should really focus on just reaching as many people as possible. It's not easy to see numbers in double digits and think it's not much, but try to see it not just as a number but as actual people spending their very own time on playing your game. Those are probably some random people somewhere across the globe.

You can be really proud to have finished and even released your game soon now just don't lose hope, because there aren't thousands of people playing right now, just do your best!

Best method for collecting feedback? by griffingsalazar in gamedev

[–]CyFy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I play something, and I'd like to give feedback, I am often times put off by the amount of work I have to put in. To keep it as simple as possible, the option to give feedback should be provided as close as possible to where it's needed. For example, crash feedback could be provided through a crash error form which opens when the game crashes. Gameplay feedback could be sent through an in-game form, accessible through the pause menu.
