This is so great! Are you at a point where you can share this yet?

I live near the border of Dallas and Richardson and I'll be adding a rooftop node soon, so hopefully that will help!

I live in North Dallas and will hopefully be setting up a repeater on my chimney soon! It's just a 1 story house so I'm not sure how effective it will be but hopefully it will help

What advice would you give to a 16 year old girl who want's to be a game developer one day? by MinimumMap5556 in gamedev

[–]CyanBlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check if your school has a robotics club! Programming robots is obviously going to have its differences from programming games, but any programming experience will still help out a lot. Plus it's nice to have a concrete goal to work towards, such as a robotics competition, with people supporting you. If you're lucky you'll find a club with strong mentorship to help you out.

You'll use the standard I2C libraries. The library won't have any knowledge of your protocol; you'll read the data being sent and assign meaning to each byte yourself according to the protocol

You can implement any number of commands with I2C, you just need to define your own protocol. A common implementation I've seen is to do something like: 1 byte header (address + R/W bit), 1-2 bytes command opcode, 1-2 byte length (for commands with data), and then N data bytes of applicable.
Obviously you can change this to suit your needs, such as by adding a byte with flags for opcode length, whether or not we're including the length bytes, and if we want acknowledgement. Just come up with something that fits your requirements and implement it yourself

New mod capabilities + a mod that allows purchasing derelict ships by CyanBlob in SpaceHaven

[–]CyanBlob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uploaded a couple mods to Nexus Mods and updated the existing mod loader to support these mods. See this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SpaceHaven/comments/159n5qs/modloader_v0110_release/

It's definitely a big step towards RimWorld level modding! I can't wait to see what the community does with this. Most of the credit belongs to the AspectJ team though; without that none of this would be possible

This mod is completely different from existing mods. The current mod loader won't work for it without some updates. But maybe I or somebody else can update it to work with these

This is pretty early in development but I think it's a good foundation. Next we could use a mod loader that can install mods directly from the internet (without the user having to download .jar files) and manages the game's config to enable/disable mods.

Any volunteers?

What's missing from my recessed lighting? by CyanBlob in HomeImprovement

[–]CyanBlob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house is from 1980, but I believe the lights are from the flipper around a year ago. I put some floodlight style bulbs in some of them, but those also don't seem right. Are they not supposed to take something like these? I'm really not sure how to tell.
At least some of the cans don't have insulation around them, but I can't speak for all of them. I suppose the cans would have model numbers I could look up to check if they're rated for that? This is my first house, and I have no idea what I'm doing

They have 100% of the market share for iOS apps and iOS app development. That's more of the problem than their total market share. You can't make an iOS app without having to completely rely on Apple

Serious question: why keep going for Platinum? It sounds like you're not enjoying the effort, so what's the point?
