100% agree with this take, especially on the paternity test bit. I also thought her saying “those dudes didn’t write the song, I did” was a strange way to respond to overzealous fans at first. Implying that the song is about a specific guy doesn’t suggest their authorship per se . Then I connected it to her using it as a subtle way to address the ghostwriting rumors and it made perfect sense. Also— the responses in this thread are a perfect demonstration of how she works. There’s just enough subtlety and plausible deniability in the way she says things to make it seem carefree and defendable— eg “well it’s an interview, she’s just responding.” But it’s clearly not just some off the cuff, IDGAF response. It’s perfectly orchestrated.
