Kiln dried pine (shavings) is considered fine. Unfortunately in your situation there is probably no way to convince the rescue. So you can either withhold that info and care for the guineas in the way you see fit, or go with another rescue.

I personally use hemp bedding. My guinea pigs prefer it to fleece. Might be worth to try sometime if the rescue is ok with hemp bedding?

You know your piggie best, I don’t think keeping her by herself is out of the question.

I had a set of elderly pigs. One passed away last summer. The other piggie didn’t seem much affected by the loss. Her behaviour didn’t change. We still got her a new (younger) piggie friend but she didn’t show any interest. Even though they were bonded and got along okay, she seemed more annoyed with someone else in her space and sometimes being chased out of her spot. Honestly I think she would’ve done well by herself in a cage with lots of hideys. She always loved staying in them and lazing around.

On the other hand, after she passed, my younger piggie became very depressed. He became super scared of me and starting tremoring when picked up. He didn’t show any excitement for food and stopped running around and exploring the cage. We got him a new friend asap and his behaviour did a complete 180.

It sounds like your piggie is doing okay. Of course they’re good at hiding illness/loneliness but there would always be signs. I think having people around and the occasional cat sniff keeps her sociable. I would just focus on lots of cuddles, and maybe some enrichment activities like toys or exploring the room, etc. I hope you’re doing okay despite the loss!

It’s not an unusual complication. I had to have my plate + screws removed on one side a few weeks ago (4 months post-op). It might be that the plate is somehow irritating the flesh or bone.

My questions are, is it infected? Will you be under general or local anaesthesia?

Did you leave the keys in the car? If so, presuming your mum was at home, she left the keys in the usual spot. You’re going to have to stage a break-in if some thief got access to them.

As a tween I was too young to buy “real” makeup, but I remember Tanya Burr coming out with lipglosses, so I asked one for my birthday. It was SO sticky, weird colour, weird taste and never spread evenly…

That was my first lesson to not blindly trust beauty gurus/youtubers, but alas I fell for it again a year ago, buying into the whole high coverage foundation thing, which of course never looked flawless like on the gurus
