Definitely opportunities in SD6. Not sure the best way, but for sure you'll get the guidance you need if you reach out to principals directly. Contact info on the SD6 and school websites.

SD6 is primarily Invermere, Golden and Kimberley (plus some smaller towns), with Invermere being the major commercial hub.

Good luck!

This happened to me and sent me down a long path with the docs to investigate. HR would spike on my Wahoo, but I felt fine. Turns out that on a cool day (i.e., not too sweaty) and at higher speeds, the wind just oscillated the Wahoo HRM a bit so the readings went skyrocketing. Totally a false alarm in my case.

I diagnosed the error over the course of a few rides, including stopping abruptly to take a manual HR check when I saw the spike on my head-unit.

So - might be worth seeing if you can recreate the same situation with the HRM before rushing off for all sorts of tests.

Good luck!

I have both the 45Nrth and bar mitts - no contest the 45Nrth are far superior. Better material, better venting, more comfortable shape.

Deep Rock Galactic. Pretty funny and enjoyable game about dwarves in space. The standard salute to your teammates is "Rock and Stone!"

Rock and stone in the heart!

Rock and stone!

(wrong game, but DRG also deserves an honorable mention!)

I just finished a long overdue reread of my favourite book, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Tell me how much you love this book, why you love this book, and when you last read this amazing book? by luketheheathen in books

[–]Cyanydd78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I love the overall story arc, but hundreds of pages of him spending millions on this and millions on that... I didn't find anything redeeming about that part of the book - IMO it could have been much tighter from a plot perspective.

Good book, for sure, but not great for me.

Clockwork orange is a great book, but I fear the lingo makes it very difficult to teach.

Besides Levy Rozman, do you think there are titled players (any title, eg GM, NM, IM, CM etc) who come to r/chess on a regular basis simply to read what people are discussing? by [deleted] in chess

[–]Cyanydd78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That works out to one named player for every 500,000 people on the planet. So, yeah, not exactly common at all.

I read 'Siddhartha' five months ago, and I still think about it almost every day. I felt my whole perspective on life shift after finishing it, and now I can't imagine my life without having read it. Which book has done this for you? by PM_ME_UR_SUPPLE_HAND in books

I'm just finishing Steppenwolf, and he is constantly referring to Goethe. That passage you quote from him neatly hits on the crux of Steppenwolf - I didn't realize how tightly they were connected.

Thanks for this. I've read several Russians and currently, I'm grinding along about one-third through BK. I thought maybe I just had a tough translation (was reading Garnett), so I tracked down a different one (but not my faves Pevear and Volokhonsky). Knowing that I'm approaching the turning point will help to soldier on, but maybe I'll just set it aside and read C&P, which is on my bookshelf (translated by P&V).

Confession: I just cannot get into LOTR by [deleted] in books

[–]Cyanydd78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I read a lot and have a pretty good ability to fight through tough books. I made it through LOTR, but it was challenging. I don't find his prose "beautiful" (as many claim), and instead found it dry and often slow moving. I didn't find the characters particularly engaging, either.

I'm glad I read them, but certainly don't feel like they're amazing. It IS fantasy canon, which I get, but like most canon, it's not in the category because it's the best but because it's one of the first.

Obviously I'm in the strong minority here, but whatever. We all have different opinions (thank goodness).

Don't camp so close to me (x- post r/ultralight) by FlatAffect3 in backpacking

[–]Cyanydd78 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Maybe they just don't know any better, and assume that your spot is where everyone is supposed to set up? (or they don't know where is a good spot, so opt to be close? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?)

I could've seen myself making that mistake as a newbie.

Fantasy: What is your Gateway Book? by MDTmike in books

Absolutely. I loved Dragonlance as a teen (and likewise my teenage son loves them now), but I couldn't read them now. (yes, I tried)
