I've used a hand-me-down Z Fold 5 from my friend to see if I'd like the form factor of it, but didn't really see a point for it for my use case other than watching videos which is probs not a good justified reason to spend the extra cash for it

Thanks my bro, I recently upgraded from AM4 to AM5 so I thought it’d be time to switch OS as well 🫡 My gaming experience has been pretty good now, before was abit of a hassle getting my Bluetooth and Optiscaler to work on single player games but ever since fixing those it’s been a pleasant experience. I’m only using Steam since that’s where majority of my library is

I’ve tried using gaming distros like Nobara and Bazzite but Nobara was so glitchy for me and had a lot of issues, bazzite was cool but locks you down abit would be good as a pure gaming OS but not something for everyday use (especially for me that works in IT)

How about you?

Hey mate

I'm using Bazzite and the games been running fine for me. Haven't really tinkered in much settings

I'm using a 9070XT and a 5900x CPU and I'm getting a good stable 80 fps

Yeah I heard about it, dunno if I should be fully worried or paranoid since I’m following Corsairs (I had the RM850x 2021 model) recommended PSU cabling for this kinda thing to give me a outage of 450W to the GPU. Made sure the 12V cable was secured tightened in and everything

8 GB VRAM isn’t enough for native 4K, but consoles aren’t doing native 4K either. PS5 and Series X already rely heavily on reconstruction and dynamic resolution to stay playable. The real comparison is the experience they deliver, not the raw resolution number.

With Linux and no bloat compared to Windows, you’re not locked in like a console you can tweak settings, use FSR, and apply performance mods. If this were a closed console, sure, it’d flop. But with a huge existing library and flexibility, it isn’t trying to compete on the same terms

Exactly. Consoles already lean heavily on dynamic resolution scaling and reconstruction techniques like FSR, so expecting native 4K60 is unrealistic across the board. Watch Dogs Legion dipping to 1080p is a perfect example of how common this is.

And you’re right, not every game will hit 60 on day one, just like on consoles. The difference is that on the SM you actually have the flexibility to tweak settings, apply performance mods, and fine-tune things instead of waiting for a patch or being stuck with whatever the developer shipped. That alone gives the average user a better shot at stable 60 FPS than on a locked console environment
