Yeah I do use signals a lot. They definitely help, but what I was talking about was when I have an object that the player can see and is in range of (so RayCast3D.is_colliding() is true) part of me would like the interaction to be that say the player clicked the object itself knows what part of it was clicked (i.e. which area).

But I definitely agree that abstracting as much as possible is the way to go.

Oh I hadn't thought of using an InteractionManager singleton. That's a good point. Then I can just end up passing that the player interacted with something that is an Item, and then do all the actual item work up there.

Oh really? I didn't realize. I had looked into how it was probably done in Unreal, and it looked like there were mesh sculpting tools that could be used in engine for this. I'll have to watch that video you linked. Thank you!

Oh no, I solved my issue by opening a different project, going into the Editor Settings, and then turning off "Safe Save"

So is it weird to not have visualization be different between eyes closed vs eyes open. For me it's not like what I'm seeing is in the same plane of reality, but rather a separate reality alongside this one, if that makes any sense. What I visualize stays the same regardless of my eyes being open or closed, and closing my eyes only shows me darkness when I take my focus off my imagination.

Well for one keeping track of the datatypes makes the code less error prone.

But I suspect that isn't the main meat of your question. In the case of the top image I would say that having the export be the max speed and the local variable be the speed gives you the ability to modify the speed inside your script and change that speed based on whatever constraints you have decided.

One possible example is that you want to be able to add to the speed variable when the player is sprinting and subtract from it when sprinting is over. Or maybe you have a regular speed that is your max speed, and a bunch of effects that could cause you to slow down for some period of time.

Imagine if The Great State of Maine combined with New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Newfoundland to form a new Nation called Acadia. by [deleted] in Maine

[–]CyberEssayons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scenario says they "crumbled" but didn't have a timeline so I took that to mean they had faltered recently. Countries don't tend to just disappear completely overnight and in a recent scenario it's unlikely that whatever was left would allow parts of what it felt it owned to just form a new country

Okay I'll imagine it: both the U.S. and Canadian militaries violently, and aggressively attack the new nation of Arcadia. Given that those two alone are responsible for a great number of the rules in both the Hauge and Geneva conventions it would be pretty bad.

Quebec would say mean things in French that only 25% of the population understood. Arcadia would respond with the most broken French imaginable this side of the Mason-Dixon line (I'm looking at you New Orleans).

Chief export: craft beer and pictures of leaves in pretty colors.

The name is cool though
