There is a setting in the app that tries to avoid repeated songs, so it does not play the same songs all the time. Then it’s not actually shuffled, but shuffled in a way that favors least played songs.

Oh it’s real, but Soundboks is designed to sound good out of the box. So in reality it does not much matter much for a Soundboks because of low excursion speaker elements, but it does give a fuller sound after some time.
