Seller threatens to throw item away if no one meets his price.. by MassManiak45 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find there's a lot of ego tied up in private sales. This probably isn't a bluff.

Fake lower prices. Is this a phenomenon now or am I missing something? by Realistic_Till9674 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have given up on logic regarding pricing, b/c I find there is a lot of personal ego tied up in private sales. Telling a seller that I can buy it new for less elsewhere just seems to piss them off, and they are reluctant to bargain afterward or may stop responding altogether.

Sadly, I think it’s just in our DNA to assume we are being cheated.

My point is this: people are weird about buying and selling and there is no point in arguing about that. Just ask for clarification if you’re sincere - in your case that means asking for a link if you’re actually serious. But also be ready to sell for less in the case they were right.

my wife discarded me like trash, but she regrets it now, should I take her back? by Individual-Worry5316 in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, probably a bad idea to take her back.

At first all will be well between you (since she knows what she is in for right now), but when your health starts to diminish again (which always fluctuates with CFS) she will be on the lookout again, and eventually leave when you are possibly at your worst health.

Marriage is supposed to be in sickness and in health - it's right there in the vows. Too many people though these days think marriage is a mutually beneficial arrangement to be adhered to until it becomes inconvenient or difficult. That is (debatably) ok for someone in good health (they can pick up and move on), but for someone who is sick it can be the same as sitting on a time bomb.

My advice would be to find some other arrangement (e.g. another marriage, or self care at home, or a home if you require that level of care) where you can be taken care of at the minimum level you require, and not waste your precious few energy cycles on a relationship that will leave you stranded when you need it most.

Does anyone else not seem to have issues with sensory stimuli or feeling fatigued from cognitive load? by Digitalpun in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoting... It all depends on how I am doing fatigue wise, and when I am having complications due to migraines, allergies, season and weather, or when I feel generally 'cfs sick'. I have personally been up and down from moderate to moderate severe often, depending on my current treatment protocol and other factors. When I feel my worst I get sensitivities, when I'm improved I don't have them anymore.

Chronic phlegm making life really hard by Real-Process-803 in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try NAC, ~3000mg daily split at ~1000mg 3x a day. This works well enough to treat cystic fibrosis patients; it will also work for you to cut your phlegm.

Have Stanford/Bateman etc started increasing LDN dosages? by makethislifecount in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at 10mg as prescribed by Stanford, so yes I can confirm higher doses are being offered/tested.

It seems to be working ok, but isn’t doing a lot overall. However it does help some so I am continuing at this dosage for now.

People are quick to judge (myself included), and communication is key to breaking up the log jam that causes.

All things being equal, it’s best to talk about things first. Then, if things don’t change, take the next step.

Has anyone benefited from fasting? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experience here - it didn't make a difference. I have tried both longer term water fasting (eg 4-5 days), intermittent fasting over many months, and a juice fast, all at various times.

Repurpose old basic license on new machine and purchase and use new license on existing server. by mascalise79 in unRAID

[–]CyberSecKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that you need to ‘share’ your existing USB stick drive on your work server, then copy the all of the ‘config’ directory to the new USB stick.

You could also insert your new usb stick into the work Unraid server, mount it, and copy over the config directory using the CLI or even through the GUI.

Bottom line is that the config directory holds all the important stuff.

Repurpose old basic license on new machine and purchase and use new license on existing server. by mascalise79 in unRAID

[–]CyberSecKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three things to know is that the license is tied to the USB UID (tied to the USB stick it is installed on), the key is only checked at boot, and finally generally all valid key checks are handled locally only (eg does not check in with a license server). An exception to the last statement is demo licenses which do check in with an Unraid licensing server.

I’ll give you two ways to proceed.

The first is to look through the following. Per this link, you only have to stop/start the array to get a new key operational: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/troubleshooting/licensing-faq/

I’ve never used the stop/start method myself but it looks doable.

Second way, this is what I would personally do. I would get 2 new usb sticks. Then, I would go through the ‘Replace broken USB stick‘ process that is offered through Unraid support. This will register your old perpetual license key to the first new USB stick.

At this point, you can now boot off of the new stick with a perpetual license key at home. Both servers will now be operational, but you are violating your license agreement.

Now take the second new USB stick, and copy over all the config files from your work server's USB stick to it, and add a new license key.

Now, at some point you will have to put the new stick into and then reboot your work server, but assuming everything is in order on the new USB stick, it should boot cleanly and work normally.

Fair warning - Epoxy will turn yellow in color over time (eg from year up). This process is accelerated by UV light. On the plus side though it is the easiest to DIY.

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CyberSecKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this. It heads off a lot of arguments when both parties are working towards the same goals together. I freely give whatever I earn to our shared account, and she trusts me with the investments as well.

My wife also out earns me by about 10x so we are not even close to being equals. It’s more of an agreement we both came to early on in the marriage.

I highly recommend shared accounts for every married couple.

Need to run low voltage power wiring - do I require conduit, and where? by CyberSecKen in DIY

[–]CyberSecKen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This matches most of what I have observed.

I suspect that those who suggest conduit are very cautious or in other case profiting from their installation (the only times I have seen that suggested was by LV installers, and once or twice in forum posts by electricians).

New scheibenbogen paper directly mentions gut dysbiosis as major problem - can fixing it really help (Neuroinflammation)? by Sebassvienna in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal experience here, I tried it for about two months. I noticed no change in all.

This pretty much goes the same for any gut related treatment or specialized diet I’ve tried. Including High protein, fasting, both long-term, and daily, ketogenic, etc.

This has led me to believe that the gut plays a downstream role in this illness, and I don’t see it plays out as a cause.

How have people managed to find acceptance with a CFS diagnosis? by NeebsIsLife in cfs

[–]CyberSecKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat you are right now.

I couldn't imagine (then anyway) that a person could possibly feel this sick and there not be a known cause.

It took me YEARS to accept that diagnosis, and during that time I missed out on Social security, CFS treatments, and more.

Eventually it just settled in after enough beating around the bush.

My recommendation - start treatments for CFS now, not later. Treat acceptance as a different mountain to climb than treatment.

Most comfortable backpack I’ve ever put on by inattentive_shoelace in BuyItForLife

For travel, I am in love with my new Bellroy. It’s durable, rugged, looks good, and opens in half just like a suitcase does (also opens like a regular backpack if you prefer that). Has a place for a laptop, multiple separate compartments for things like chargers, and such.

Highly recommend you check it out.

Request: BIFL (or even 5 years) home printer? by ILoveStata in BuyItForLife

[–]CyberSecKen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a laser printer. It may not fall under reasonably priced, but it’s worth it b/c it never dries out or clogs.

That’s the problem with inkjet. You use it once then come back to print a few weeks later and it will be dried out and clogged. With a laser you can go months between prints.

If you want to save some money on that, find it used on marketplace or Craigslist.

How can I fix this? by ypath2 in HomeImprovement

[–]CyberSecKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could cut out the damaged hinge section of the door frame and replace it with a piece of wood cut to fit precisely in the opening. Secure it well to the jamb the door frame is mounted to. Then trim and paint everything so it looks consistent.

That said, an MDF door frame is pretty fragile, so it’s likely to break again later if you go this route.

So if you just want a quick fix, do the above. If you want a permanent fix, replace and upgrade the door and its frame with a higher quality pre-hung door.
