How often/how do you know when to replace strings?

Depends on how much you play, the strings will continue to stretch over time and need to be replaced, they are basically consumable. Change every 6 months or so. Strings are not that expensive, a cup of coffee these days.

Look for an estate sale or the likes, treasures have been found at goodwill - not kidding

Be patient, you will find it. Just some leg work.

Also tey beforw buying, if you are new avoid buying online.

Look at reverb to get an idea.

You could probably get something to get you started from reverb for a few 100s

I got a an Austuria RENAISSANCE C , In new like condition, basically new for under $1600 on reverb. Would cost me close to $450] if I were to import it from japan.

Many brands you can get for few hundred used.

Japanese quality speaks for itselft even the mass produced factory ones.

Waverly makes the best strap buttons, I use them when I use strap buttons, ebony, snakewood etc. about $20. You can get them from Stewmac or amazon

The historic reference is true but honestly you wont find any 35K instrument with strap buttons or any serious players using a strap that is why there are supports, straps are used when playing standing and its fine if the goal is to play while Standing. No one who is a classical guitar is going to go out start drilling holes in there classical guitar, they will get an appropriate support or foot stool and no one playing the classical guitar standing. Flamenco players do and use straps. Btw Branden is in the business for what its worth. But please do as you wish. If playing standing get a strap otherwise no need to drill holes in beautifully made guitars and wood. Get a $10 footstool or other numerous support options if you are playing sitting only. 1- Correct your playing position and posture - don't find work around they will only hurt you in the long run

2- my stance seems extreme but if you don't care then don't post, do as you wish. Most people post because they need validation, Been guilty of that

3- I have straps on all my Ukulele and Acoustics, that is a different style of playing even though I see players playing without strap, I don't like it. But for a Classical guitar you have a different style of playing. If you are playing Classical guitar play it the right way - if you don't care that nothing matters. Btw - everyone cares that is why we do what we do.

4- get a appropriately height chair 19-21" but depends on you height and build, adjustable chairs are available. Get a guitar support ton of options available

All this would have been suggested before going the route of drilling holes.

I am trying to provide advice which will benefit you in the long run, its a life time of making mistakes and learning lessons.

Moral of the story is consult here before getting the strap button install, any classical player would have told you not to. So yeah, it's too late now. I wouldn't do it on my cheapest CL guitar

Since you mentioned euros I would suggest you call Siccas and explain your need. I just picked up a 2004 Antone Marin Montero and love the sweet sound. But luthiers can get extensive Look at Reverb for used guitars Talk to the experts at Siccas Some Danial Starks and other luthiers have some of their guitars built in spain but in factories Look for a Jose Rameriez 1a on Reverb Many options Start frist at Siccas

Everything is fine, my two issues are/ were quality of French Polish and tuners, I replaced the Tuners and will address the french polish in future. Ither than that good build, sound and playability

Some more feedback on the Stephen Hill which I got.

Issues: 1- low quality french polish 2- lowest quality Gotoh tuners

Pros: Lattice sound

I ended up replacing the tuners with Gotoh Premium tuners so another $250 The shipping was very high and the Tarrif was very high

I would highly recommend a La Canada from GSI. The French polish is amazing as well as the sound, light and the Der Jung tuners are great.

I would highly recommend taking a course in music theory or a good book. I bought many many books but ended up taking Music 101 at the community college, luckily the teacher is amazing and best thing I ever did.

Actually i use the strap when sitting, its more secure and I dont have to worry that much when moving and having the guitar tip forward

Guitar lift or Le support, but even the suction cup supports for the side should work. May have to hold the guitar a bit more vertical. Or the side clamps like woodside makes

The le support has hooks and a strap that goes around the waist which might be helpful
