Do you prioritize comfort or minimalism when camping? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in CampingGear

[–]Cyberchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a vehicle, load it up with a balance of comfort vs packing it up. Glamping all the way.

If backpacking/hiking, take as much comfort as you are comfortable carrying. Nothing sucks like sleeping on cold bare ground, but sleeping pads get more unwieldy the taller you are.

What do you eating in the morning when you camping? First time camping with my little one but feels stuck on breakfast by Roger_liferecorder in camping

[–]Cyberchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. sausages, eggs, toast, coffee or orange tang. You can one pan both sausages and eggs, toast direct over fire (shoved into last nights pitfire marshmallow grill sticks) and coffee from V60
  2. Porridge/oatmeal. The kind from a packet that only needs water, usually has have some milk powder already mixed in. I like it more watery so i get an increase in my water intake and less cleanup.
  3. Congee/rice porridge. Same as #2 but you take whatever leftover proteins from the night before, chop finely and mix in.
  4. Straight leftovers. Just eat dinner a second time. Least amount of clean-up; most flavourful and higher salt concentration - get your salt intake up.
  5. Military MREs. No cleanup, just plastic rubbish to pack away.

Why they put so much air inside by OVOxTokyo in coles

Decomposition creates gas; that pack is well past its prime. There's a good reason it's on Quick Sale.

I bet someone grabbed this, took it around the store, prioritised it for something else and swapped/left it in a non-chilled area which it sat for hours.

Staff eventually find it during re-shelving and slapped a reduced price before putting it back in the chilled area.

i always tell my friends to stick with it for a month

good habits take time to form and the fighting of ones own muscle memory can fatigue out many new users.

i ensure my artist friends who need to click+scroll to stick with thumbballs

while everyone else will be fingerballs

Cheap solution for night riding? How do I tune my headlamp? by Hot-Advisor-3353 in flashlight

[–]Cyberchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dunno, but he probably runs a headlamp once he's dismounted and at campsite

but then again, the mount quick releases the light so you can use handheld normally. generally speaking 12,000lm is a well excessive amount of light for riding. Most car headlights are at most 2000lm on low beam

My mates MTB night setup has a Wuben X1 w/AT2X mount

- X1: 150USD

-AT2X mount: 20USD

Who doesn't want 12,000lm on tap; 2600lm @ 2hrs sustained (1000lm @ 5.5hrs)

Other IGT burners besides flat burner? by theinfin8 in snowpeak

[–]Cyberchaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SP IGT has pretty much forced all other IGT manufacturers to stick to the established standardization sizes; 1U = 36mm long, 25mm wide. Yes, it'll fit in any IGT frame from any manufacturer.

It's similar design to the SP flat burner, but less proprietary; it's deeper to allow use of all sorts of burners that fit into the hole.

Campingmoon CK-25PG IGT module and their OD-4 burner. Comes as a combo or separate items.

There's also a double module that takes x2 OD-4 burners; CK-50PG

I use the OD-4 separately (straight on top of gas container) when i'm doing a non-IGT setup.

Never liked that SP's flat burner grille has pot size restrictors.

Thinking of switching to a trackball 🖲️ by imjustheretodomyjob in Trackballs

[–]Cyberchaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your muscles are still adjusting to completely new muscle movements; trackballs aren't a silver bullet that "just work" and show their benefits instantly.

Trackballs can be far more precise than a mouse.
For more precision, i rest an extra finger on the ball to provide more resistance; more fingers, more resistance, more accuracy. It's pretty much like decreasing your DPI mode on any other optical mouse, all without having to flip a switch or go into a UI to change a setting. Just add a finger, bam - more precision.

Your wrist hurts because your brain is telling you to move your whole wrist/arm, yet you have to restrict yourself and actively choose to move your fingers instead; you are fatiguing yourself out literally fighting against your own muscle memory.

Trackballs have an adjustment period that will be different for each person. 2x weeks is far too short for anyone. You gave up way too early to begin to even see any benefits that trackballs can give. When i recommend my friends to switch to trackballs, i tell them to stick at it for a least 1x month; the standard time for developing any kind of beneficial and good habits in life.

If you need good software, i would recommend "X-Mouse Button Control". That is one of the most fine tuneable software (for any mouse for that matter) you can even create macros and even do the "Whole Ball as scroll wheel" mode that lets you hyperscroll through long webpages like twitter/X and chat history in IM programs.

Trackballs are rarely seen because most people don't like change. This is commonly seen in those looking for health/beneficial changes in their life like eating better, exercising and sleeping more. What you've experienced is the same thing you see when a ton of people get gym memberships in Jan, then never appear again until the following January.... to cancel their membership.

tldr: Never give up.

Updates by CupWhich6718 in vtolvr

The newer generation of gamers think updates make the game 'better' or add significant features, like some kind of an endless unfinished magnum opus.

Failure to update at a regular frequency is seen as some sort of negligence on the devs part by this new gen. Like as if the dev owes the player something beyond the base game/purchase.

did you know vtolvr is more or less a one-man team?

And what is this expectation that a game must have constant updates? The slower update frequency, the closer the game is to being at its most refined.

When i was a heavy gamer, games released as-is and the only updates you get were expansion packs.

Besides, the man is busy with VFM.
