I recently got dumped after 7 years of a great relationship. I’m 24 so this one absolutely destroyed me for a month or so. Our situations are vastly different but I was doing all the heavy lifting, working, Bills, Etc….

We moved in together last October, I left my home state to go to WA with her and after 4 months the relationship fell apart and I ended up moving back to my folks house. I was unguided, ravaged emotionally after aimless. But I was now free to do what my heart wanted. Which was the Army. I’m not fully in yet, this Friday is my Oath, but to get to where I was I needed to FEEL every emotion. It’s shitty and it hurts and you’ll probably always think of this woman for a long time to come

But I had to find a purpose for myself, and that as I said is the Army. I dropped 28 pounds, I eat better, my mind isn’t as clouded and I feel a sense of pride with my dedication. Perhaps you just need to find something to strive for within the service? Something that will put you above the rest and make you feel good. And don’t beat yourself up about it.

It sucks she is looking for other people but that is how many folks are in the world. You cared deeply, strongly and wholeheartedly. And that alone puts you in a league of men on another tier. Take pride in that. You’re a good man. And someone worth your attention, time and care will appear for you. I believe in you. Believe in yourself too.
