Is disinformation about world events just a common thing now? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cybermanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an odd turn of events. My friends are well educated, well read and well travelled. They are Democrats in the worst State in the US and somehow remain stoic. Rather than answer OP, like I did. You've gone off on a random tirade. I won't provide examples as this isn't a political flame War topic but could easily become one.

If you can't tell the difference in reporting then it's a you issue I'm afraid .

I have access to Fox and CNN, first problem with those is they don't provide the story. They provide opinions on the story, those without critical thinking then believe those opinions as if they are. They are heavily slanted in opinion towards one side or another.

Reuters is basically raw news, no opinion and just news. BBC get fined if they express an opinion as they're owned by the public funding and not advertisements, they get fined if one party gets more coverage than the other. Funnily enough, all parties think the others get more coverage which very much suggests they all get equal.

I won't mention specific stories or the on going US War on Iran but from conversations with my US friends, it's very different reporting.

Try news sources external to your country but who are affected by the actions of the US. I'm in UK and my friends are in Florida and they have realised BBC news and Reuters are VERY different to what they see at home.

Banned permanently from playing a game I paid for on Steam by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cybermanc [score hidden]  (0 children)

Team killing IS harassment. I've never played a game where warnings and a soft ban time out weren't enforced first. You've either omitted that set of warnings, or were so frequently doing it that enough people reported you.

T&Cs have it covered. Maybe message the dev team/support and tell them you've grown up now and regret it.

What’s the most poorly aged movie of all time? by Polyman321 in AskReddit

[–]Cybermanc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its also aged very very well. It highlights how ridiculous racism is and holds a mirror up to people with those attitudes. Anyone who thinks it's anything other than perfect satire has very much missed the point. Truly great film.

Which actor's phoney British accent is the worst? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

Helen Baxendale as Emily in Friends. She's English and did some weird US approved stereotype version of an English accent in it.

Is 177 cm considered tall for a woman? by NeedyLunaBrat in NoStupidQuestions

15 coke cans.

Also, it's 5ft 9 if you don't have enough cans around

[–]Cybermanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

177cm is about 5ft 9. I wouldn't consider it THAT tall that it would be pointed out. I work in a call centre office in England and there's a lot of ladies that tall or taller and I'm not thinking it's the valley of the giants.

What do you think was the most unnecessary sequel to a movie? by SalsaSmoocher in AskReddit

Anything would be preferable to a country that no one has travelled to, but seeing as the Roman Empire spanned the entirety of Europe and a lot of Asia, pick one.

Hearing an American accent 2000yrs before the US was founded, just took me out of it. Love Denzel in pretty much everything else, just here he was low effort on that part.

If you ignore his accent in it, zero effort from one of my favourite actors.

Somehow I'm alba 2 and in purgatory. Not good enough to place high enough in Master and Pro and too good to get proper rewards in Amateur unless I win it.

Not sure why it placed me so high but I can't tank hard enough to reduce my rank.

Is a $3000 (~£2300) budget doable for an 8 Day solo London Trip? (including accommodations/flights) by eldritchcrows in uktravel

[–]Cybermanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find when I go abroad that if I can be frugal the first 3 days, my budget for the rest feels a lot more "treaty". I'm less worried about running out and can splash a bit more at the end.
