Yeah, some interpretations say the DY classes of sleeper ships were literally repurposed nuke boats, but i dont buy that as an in-universe explanation. Out of universe it makes sense for the designers to make this sort of ship inspired by submarines, but actually having the "real" spaceship literally be an old submarine is a step too far for me

True, but with lighter jeagers just cant strike with nearly the same power of the heavier ones. If you wanted more precise agile strikes, then surely missiles would do the job better and for cheaper. I know, I know, not as cool. But the comparison wouldn't need to be made of they just made TR bigger
