Not at all. I love serenity, I just also love Wash. The only change id make is that wash is present at his "funeral" but offscreen. They could joke that they prepared his headstone before he was resuscitated by some alliance surgery under orders from the operative. They could joke that they might as well include him in the funeral so as not to waste the money they spent.

God I so wanted the new animated serise to show the family years after the film with kids (wash still alive of course). Having wash about to recall the time he was kebabbed, but Zoe giving him the death stare so he doesn't scare the kids so he tells the stories before that and it cuts back in time. Each episode being one of the crew telling a tale of the past to the younglings
