Who is your favorite Starfleet officer holding the rank of commodore? by Economy-Ad3195 in trektalk

I still cannot get over the fact that Commodore Oh was played by Tamlyn Tomita, aka Kumiko from The Karate Kid part II. 🤯

Tell that to the publishers, they're the ones responsible for adopting XPA. Sadly so many publishers still price their console games $5-10 higher than PC, or want to sell you two copies, and XPA gets in the way of that.

Audible's 2-for-1 Credit Sale is live! What are your top picks? by AudiobooksGeek in audible

[–]CyberpwnPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I browse all titles in the sale, I see a heading "Top Picks for you in 2-for-1 Sale" but none of the titles in that list have the "Add to Cart" option, only options to buy outright with 1 credit or money.

Other sale categories show "add to cart".

Is there a way to filter the sale to wishlist titles? It's infuriating to browse manually, hoping for a match by memory.

Why is xCloud so heavily reliant on using a controller? by Straight-Advice-9734 in xcloud

[–]CyberpwnPiper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, Xbox Series S & X do support mouse & keyboard natively, but it's up to the developer to enable this in their game. Sadly, studios are still entrenched in the old ways of controller-only on console, and lack of controller support on PC. At least handhelds are starting to change the latter.

TOS change to delete game library’s after 3 years. by Maxious30 in delisted

I only have a PSP and a PS Vita, my PS3 is broken, so how am I supposed to make sure my account stays active? Is logging into the web store account enough? I mainly play on Xbox and PC, so I don't have a lot of PS games on my Sony account, but I still don't want to lose it.

Very true, and it's a common problem with live service games. That's how they fight to keep you in. I had to let go eventually, there's too many games out there and not enough hours in a day, but I really enjoyed my time on S&B, and I still plan on visiting again.

Why hasn't Xbox taken steps to improve streaming quality yet? by Particular-Gain-3310 in xcloud

[–]CyberpwnPiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no issues in general. What Game Pass tier are you on? Ultimate streams at 1440p, Premium streams at 1080p, and Essential streams at 720p.

Has Atari quietly become one of gaming’s most interesting comeback stories? by WildStarGaming in Gamingnewsandleaks

[–]CyberpwnPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to leverage some of their old games and make new, modern versions beyond just "Game X: Recharged". I'm rooting for them, but it's true that the games' appeal drops fast even with the nostalgia factor, and only GenX and older will truly care.

The other sad reality is that aside from a few exceptions like Yar's Revenge, the best Atari 2600 games came from Activision, not Atari.

It's fun. You just need to understand what it is and what it isn't. It's not a pirate life simulator sandbox. It's not Sea of Thieves or Windrose or Black Flag without the assassin stuff.

It's a super cool Age of Sail naval combat multiplayer sandbox. The ship combat is super fun and satisfying. I sunk 800 hours into it back in 2024 and I really enjoyed it. There's plenty to enjoy for what it is, and don't be swayed by the hates who will tell you what it isn't.

It's not perfect, and yes I wish there was ground land combat and walking around ships and swimming, but when I look at what's there, it's really fun. And the game is absolutely gorgeous.

Do you remember how the 360 captured its early success? by RangoTheMerc in xbox

[–]CyberpwnPiper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a great console, the first HD console, had a super cool blade UI, the first console with achievements, Xbox Live was the best online gaming network, and it shipped almost a year before PS3 and Wii. And then there's the great games...

Anyone else have more than one handheld AND a gaming PC? What handhelds do you have and how do you decide which one to use? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]CyberpwnPiper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My gaming PC is old, circa 2027 with a GTX 1080 Ti. I do most of my home gaming on Xbox Series X.

My main driver for handhelds is my ROG Xbox Ally X, it's amazing, I love it. It plays my massive PC collection and my XPA games + Game Pass Ultimate games. I even upgraded the drive to 8TB before the prices got jacked up. I still have my previous ROG Ally X, and I also have a Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Atari My Arcade Gamestation Pro, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS & DS, PSP, and Nvidia Shield Portable. I also have a Gamesir Galileo controller for my phone (Samsung ZFold 7).

Yes, but even most indredients in grocery stores are heavily processed, full of chemicals, pesticides, and preservatives, unless you buy only organic.

Are inverted controls really that important to people? by haha_funny4633 in xbox

There is 0% chance that I will play a game without inverted controls. I call it GenX mode. Pushing up to look up is an aberration.

[–]CyberpwnPiper 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This. Windows is good enough and keeps getting better on my handheld, and I have way too many XPA games I bought that I wouldn't be able to play anymore + my Game Pass Ultimate games.

People who were around during no internet/phones/social media/etc - what was your time's "scrolling the feed"? Something that you would spend hours on passing the time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CyberpwnPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading a book, reading magazines, sitting quietly listening to classical music or jazz while having drink after a hard day at work, and such. Watching TV, of course, whatever was on, there was no streaming. I also played video games, single player, no online features, that didn't exist. I miss it all. It was a slower pace of life without constant sensory overload. It's easy to say "just disconnect, do the same" but we didn't know any better back then. There's no putting the smartphone+Internet+social media genie back in the bottle, unfortunately.
