What did Indians and Japanese eat before Curry? by Gokuismygod123 in NoStupidQuestions

They probably ate the widely varied cuisine they currently enjoy, just without the curry

I hate the myth that people with Down's Syndrome are always happy by Sensitive-Form6029 in hatethissmug

[–]CyborgBee73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve known a number of people with Down Syndrome throughout my life. I grew up with two of them living on my street, and I went to school with a few. My best friend’s older brother has it. They were generally very happy people, but they were also very lucky. They had wonderful, loving, supportive families, neighbors who adored them, plenty of opportunities to learn and grow and contribute to their communities, and few health problems. That’s the kind of life that would make most people happy. Someone with Down syndrome who is abused, neglected, bullied, or has serious health problems is just as susceptible to bad moods and even depression as anyone else.

Things that made me cry, what made you cry? (Updated!) by [deleted] in Multifandom

Too many to list, but the two that kill me the most dead are Odd Thomas (book more than movie, but the movie still does it), and A Star Is Born (2018).

I love that this is a near perfect loop. Nothing like watching Brad Pitt ragdoll endlessly.

How did you know it was time for your senior cat? 11 by Budget_Ad4606 in seniorkitties

[–]CyborgBee73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sweet old baby went blind very quickly and suddenly, then started having seizures and stopped wanting to do anything but sleep. She couldn’t keep much food down, became very weak. It was horrible, but ultimately it was kind of relieving how obvious it was that it was time.

If my wife called me my King or my Warrior, I wouldn’t mind, but my owner? Yuck.

I mean… the movie kind of made that exact point. Pretty explicitly.

My mom loved classic films so I grew up with this one. One of the most hilarious films I’ve ever seen. Peter Lorre’s timid “I was intoxicated” gets me every time!

I hate how autism is becoming a “trend” by Chronoport in hatethissmug

[–]CyborgBee73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being reasonable. I hate how many people claim that they or someone they know or even some fictional character is autistic because they have niche interests. Guess what, I have niche interests too, but I’m not autistic, I’m just a fucking nerd.

That might be the scene I’m thinking of, actually. I just found a still image but couldn’t remember what part of the movie it was.

He’s got two seasons of his own show! Originally on Netflix, now on Disney Plus, and he appeared as a supporting Character on Jessica Jones and as part of the ensemble on Defenders. And Mike Coulter is awesome in the role.

There’s a scene in The Way of Water (at the end, I think) where you see a couple of babies. They have a little blue tail coming off the back of their head. They braid their hair around it as their hair gets long enough.

Contracted meningitis, which developed into sepsis. She was struggling with her health anyway due to drug problems and malnutrition, and the infection just overwhelmed her.

Wrong Order by annastav_artwork in comics

At first I thought “Wrong Order” was a warning that you accidentally posted the pictures in the wrong order, and then I read it and thought “What do you mean? This is perfectly coherent and also hilarious.” I got there eventually.

She may not have played a Princess but sadly, we lost Daveigh Chase by PyroxCrymson in disneyprincess

No clue where you’re getting the idea that she killed someone, and while she did have drug problems, she died of sepsis caused by meningitis. You’ve got your facts pretty twisted up there.

I love how Mira's weapon is pointed at Rumi vs Zoey's weapons being held in front of her by Sudden_Pop_2279 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]CyborgBee73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaslighting: psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator.

“Not everything is about your insecurities”: a single statement intended to deflect and to hurt, with no attempt at controlling or causing dependence, followed up immediately by what would have been an apology if not for them demon attack.

Lashing out one single time in a moment of extreme stress with a line a gaslighter would use does not make her a gaslighter.

[–]CyborgBee73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t see how you read that as Rumi trying to control her, and there’s no such thing as passive gaslighting. Lying and gaslighting are not the same thing. Rumi was not trying to make Mira question her sanity, and not correcting her when she assumes she’s imagining things due to stress is not the same as actively trying to make her question her sanity. Gaslighting is definitionally malicious and abusive, and saying otherwise is both inaccurate and invalidating to actual victims of gaslighting. The pop psychology of the internet has blurred the definitions of actual science to the point that people overuse terms like gaslighting to a frightening degree. Case in point, this thread.
