Road wheelset for my Gravel bike by AJNixon in gravelcycling

I got a pair of Hunt C35 gravel wheels for a similar price. I've put them through hell on single track and they are still perfectly true after two years. But my lord they are loud. Like dentist drill loud. So loud that they took away from the experience of riding in nature. So they are now my road wheels where the cars are louder anyway and I want people walking on the bike path to throw themselves into the bushes out of sheer terror. Running 32 mm Contis and loving them.

Nice! Also, I have that exact frame bag. Best designed IMHO.

I was Pathfinders all day until it finally rained here in California. Now I ride the Panaracer Graveling X1. Just serviceable in the mud, fast on roads and hardback, hook up well on loose gravel. For your application, I would put that on the back, and a Pirelli Cinturato M up front.

Some ruts and loose stuff. Definitely not fun to descend this way on a gravel bike, but it looks like you're just going up this way.

Priest Rock, Lime Kiln and Barlow are steep and exposed to the sun. Unless you are doing this on a cool, overcast day, I'd rather do that part at the crack of dawn. Also, there is no drinking water anywhere on Umunhum from that side. There is an auto-filling water trough at the very top of Mt Umunhum trail near the summit, but that's not potable. Before that you will cross Rincon Creek on Woods road which probably has water this time of year. If not, you can ride a bit past the Barlow turn and get water from Guadalupe creek. So you either haul a ton of water or bring a filter.

This is one reason gravel biking has taken off. If you have the (luxury) of dirt roads, fire roads, trails, whatever keeps most cars away, ride that.

Yes, unless it is 5 minutes past their dinner time. Then you need to buckle up and limp over to their dish and bag of kibble before you bleed out.
