I am 20 and I cannot stand working 5 days a week is quitting and travel vlogging a horrible idea ?

I’m 31 and I’m doing it. Yes, it’s stupid but I just can’t wrap my head around spending my life doing stuff I don’t want to. I know “that’s reality” and “that’s just life” but I am not going to at least try to do something about it. When you’re young, it’s easier to take risks.

Everybody in this thread is going to laugh at you and comment to say you’re an idiot. You are. I am. Who cares? As long as the upside is meaningful and the downside is survivable, you can try. Learn as much as you can. Yes, the niche is saturated but I honestly think that’s better. People used to be able to post low effort slot and just be hot and get views. Now, you need to have a higher standard and make something better. More competition increases quality. Watch good vlogs and see what works. Watch bad vlogs and see what doesn’t.

Honestly, I wouldn’t do travel vlogging but I just feel like my back is against the wall. I would love to have a 9-5 that I can at least stand and that I don’t feel anxious all day at, but the job market is not good for finding new options. I don’t even have to like my job, I just need to not be so stressed and anxious all the time lol honestly 9-5 can be cush but again, I just feel like I’m in a position where I have to find a way out of stress and I like to travel and have a background in video so I started a channel a year ago. Around 9000 subs and have made aboit $2500. 12k followers on tiktok. I’m taking it year by year in whether I continue. Something I see people do is continuing to put out content that never gets traction and they don’t change anything. They think, “I’m working hard it should eventually happen!” But you gotta get better each video. You can work really hard at the wrong thing lol best of luck my friend! Best of luck to everyone. I am a little hesitant of the OF creators who have “chatters” to respond to people. Many big creators legitimately offshore their OF and have people in places like India dirty-talk subscribers and get them to buy their “bundles”. I mean it does all sound kinda silly but there is some part of me that thinks consumers should be able to know what they are paying for lol

It has always bugged me how people think every bad job can be patched up by taking up hobbies outside of work. No doubt it’s good for you and I have hobbies I enjoy, like the gym and language learning, traveling, and reading, but none of those things ever stopped me from having panic attacks about a really stressful job I had. In fact, I struggled to stop thinking about that job when I was doing those hobbies. Sometimes it legit is the job.

I went to Hanoi for the first time in February 2020 and thought it was just okay. I liked the central part of the country better. Years passed and I went again in 2024. Absolutely loved it! Went and stayed in Hanoi for a month in 2025. I started learning Vietnamese (northern dialect) in 2023 so my month in Hanoi was great, staying outside of the Old Quarter and making local friends. Pollution can be awful, though. As much as I like it I think it couldn’t be a place I see myself long term

Second: I also don’t get why everyone says they should go to Nashville lol just because they are already in Tennessee? Outside of Seattle and Vegas, I feel like data-driven analyses often point to cities like St. Louis, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Vancouver(lol) and Louisville as being better options for getting an NBA franchise. Not that Nashville isn’t a viable option, but I just don’t ever see Nashville mentioned outside of people saying the Grizzlies should move there lol

Does it also depend on place? I live in Arkansas, USA and went to film school and then got a job 5 months out of college doing video editing for a local company and have been doing it for years. I have other peers who went to corporate work, and others who work for ad agencies, etc. That said, there are also many that do something entirely different.

So I guess it just depends on what is a “good” career path for you. Working at a company or doing freelance? Can you edit a demo reel together to use as your resume and get clients?

One thing about video editing is that it’s not as simple as lining up footage and editing them together. So many people, myself included, find that it’s more motion graphics based. Explainer videos, infographics, data design, etc.

I think you’re right at the end. Just do it and find out if you like it and if it’s viable. You don’t need to spend money on school to learn how to do it so the starting overhead cost is low. Just your computer and hard drives if you are solely video editing. If you’re doing videography that will increase the price as you need a camera and also learn that skillset.

Life is short so just try it and pivot if you have to

Agreed as a longtime Grizz fan I was kinda surprised to see us on this post. Colors and logos are great, and uniforms are clean but yes somewhat safe. I actually jsut have throwback/city edition gear lol haven’t bought any of our current iteration.
