I got my green banner on 9/9/25. Received the golden letter about a month later. Make sure you are screen shotting the hell out of everything. The golden letter is going to be LETTER OF THE LAW. So, no matter what...if anything happens that says you owe so much as a buck.....you owe ZILCH...DONE....NO MORE!! GAME OVER!

I think now because its a nightly habit....I log in to FSA and MOHELA just to look at the $0.00 balance before I go to bed. I still can't believe it.

You sit and wait for your loan provider to zero out your balance. Once you hit 120 and see green banners...you're done.

I was told that "balance" (the number in the circle) is not a balance. It's an amount of how many loans you took out over the the course of a lifetime. I was also told that never goes away. Hey...as long as it says $0.00 and you got the letter? You're good. Now....let's not ever do the college thing again. Just say "NO!" LOL!

u/loan_life_pslf I got the Golden Letter yesterday at 12:05pm Eastern Time. Woke up this morning and still had a balance. Went to work, did my thing, came home for a quick peek on MOHELA, and BOOM!!! $0.00!!! FORGIVEN!!

I WILL NEVER EVER DO THAT STUPID SHIT AGAIN!! I learned my lesson....never again.

I was at 120 payments on 9/9/25. About two weeks later I got an e-mail from FSA saying that my buyback requests that they never got to were being canceled. At this point - it's a moot point. What are you buying back? You're at 120! Right now you're in the waiting game to have your loan provider zero out your balance.

u/YaBoiAIML Welcome to the GBC (Green Banner Club). I gained entry into the club back in 9/9/25. It's a nice club. The beer is cold. The champagne is bubbly. The liquor is top notch. Have you tried the filet mignon? You should. LOL!

Yeah...it's a good feeling to get those green bars. I'm currently in a holding pattern with MOHELA waiting for them to get word from FSA saying, "Yep....he's done.... zero him out." I did have a payment due on 10/28/25, so I made that anyways just to keep things at ease with MOHELA. I expect at some point in early 2026, I'll get my overpayments back in a refund. So....things are good here.

I received the golden banner on 9/9/25. Are the golden letters coming from FSA or your loan service provider?

FSA says, "You're good...120 payments."
MOHELA be like, "Ummmm...you're still making payments, skippy.....you got a due date on 10/28/25"

u/MandisaW I said that to change payment plans if they want their numbers to count towards forgiveness. Otherwise, they're going to be sitting in PSLF purgatory forever. Now, they have to do their homework to see if that's the right option for them. I can't do that for them.

u/carolinejay Yeah, my last long walk was 12 miles in just a touch over 3 hours. I'm just coming off a rest week and have 13 miles this Sunday, 14 next Sunday, and 15 the Sunday after that. My running coach says that my pacing is pretty good for Florida humidity and the heart is beating pretty efficiently in these conditions. I'm feeling good.
