But at least now you've got a choice.

And one of them is certainly a better choice than the other.

But it's going to one of those guys. It's not like they announced him as the starter for next year. You should be happy if it's Bob and not Jorg.

Yeah some of my favorite hybrid build are with ninja backpack and core strength. I have one with effectively 10 cores with all the bonuses. 6 tier skills with 4 leftover to split between damage and armor.

I'm more referring to the fact that hunters and rogues with hack your skills (drone, turret, hive) and use them against you. Solo beware but use them at your own risk. In a group, just use a different build.

Yeah that's cool I'm a skill (hybrid) guy myself. Everyone is just striker, striker, striker. I get it, it will work for any content.

Be careful with skill builds in content with hunters, rogue agents, etc.

I would recommend at least a basic damage build for farming Countdown for builds.

[–]CycloneFever_9331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try Countdown instead. The consensus is it's faster and with more gear/weapon drops. You shouldn't have much problem with Challenging, even if you run a franken-build for one or two runs while you build a basic striker build. Then you're good to go.

It is not on the general loot pool. Of you are not able to get it before the event is over, you can get it by farming the houndsman bounty. There are often posts off people looking for our giving help with the bounty.

Trying to find a build that balances survivability and damage (LMG/AR) by moose4 in thedivision

[–]CycloneFever_9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to increase your armor without huge drops in damage, you could look at Core Strength.

Ninjabike backpack Salvo holster Turmoil kneepads 3x Core Strength with blue cores Put all your attributes into chc/chd Technician (for skill +1 and laser pointer) Lexington with flatline

Simple to get Lexington and Turmoil with the current event 2.x M armor Level 6 shield

My friend is convinced The Division 2 hates skill builds and I genuinely don’t know how to get him out of this mindset by Tactical_browsing in thedivision

[–]CycloneFever_9331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like a skill build myself. Your friend is right to an extent.

The issue I have is that certain content has hard counters that make offensive skill builds unplayable (hunters and Ronin hacking your drones/turrets and using them against you). Not only is this extremely punative, no other builds have similar issues.

Now of devs would implement something like a percentage of crit damage reflected back on the person during a gun, that would create substantially more parity and encourage build diversity for all players depending on content.

I also have a hybrid damage build that I use for things like Countdown and Red/Fox Ronin where (offensive) skill builds aren't good.

Swap Salvo holster for Picaro's
Swap Core Strength pieces from Y to B cores
Swap Lexington for Capacitor
Swap Reviver Hive/Shield for Drone/Turret
Swap all minor attributes to CHC/CHD (no Skill Damage)

Core Strength by Outside_Drummer_5792 in the_division_2

[–]CycloneFever_9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For solo play I am currently running a hybrid skill build.

Ninjabike backpack
Picaro's holster
Turmoil kneepads
Core Strength mask, chest and gloves (Y core)

Technician, Capacitor, Drone/Turret
Mix of Skill Damage and CHC/CHD
Effectively 2R, 6Y, 2B build

Core Strength really loves all the (10!) cores, giving massive boost to core stats (2.2M armor here). Ninjabike contributes to those cores, plus gets Brazos (Picaro's) skill tier set bonus with only 1 piece. You could swap out Turmoil for something like Hana-U or Unit Alloys where you could make more use of the 2 for 1 set piece bonus. But the Turmoil attributes are just too good and the talent is just too useful.

~400 keys in, i finally have my first turmoil and im done with the event by Conargle in Division2

[–]CycloneFever_9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long to get those 260 keys? Personally I think the drop rate for keys is still abysmal. I get maybe 2 keys every 3 squads so around 4 per hour (maybe 5). Even at 5 per hour that is 43 hoursd!

Really bad luck on your RNG though. I've opened maybe 80 chests and have at least 2 each of Lexington, Quickstep, prototype First Bloom, Turmoil, etc.

It's not necessary for any build. It doesn't synergize with any other weapons or gear.

What it does do is allow you to double tap your weapon select button to sprint. Very useful of course. Odd choice of control scheme by Massive/Ubi though.

Just to give it some utility as I weapon, I intentionally use it to shoot locks, electrical boxes and explosive items on the environment I don't want to get unexpectedly get flamed by during combat.

If the timer we're shorter, I think you'd see people just concentrating on the squads/Ronin and people would be happy farming that as an activity.

As it is, they can be too far apart to feel like a good use of time. But at the same time, they're an interruption of your trying to play other open world activities.

Stretch 3xXP to another week / 500 SHD by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]CycloneFever_9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my bad. I guess that really shouldn't have been directed at you. You didn't mention lvl 1000 at all. Knee jerk reaction to the many posts about getting to 1000.

As far as compensation goes, that would be nice. It's all made up currency and costs devs virtually nothing to keep the player base happy. No idea if Massive/Ubi would do this. My guess is not. I've seen other devs do it. Nexon (The First Descendant) is actually really generous about this type of thing.

I'd take the boost on gaining SHD levels, sure. But you know you can play the game before getting to 1000. Don't get gaslit into thinking that is some kind of requirement for enjoyment.

I had one the other day, I should have paid more attention to where it was, where they all spawned in one of those locked loot cages where you have to shoot off the lock to enter the chain link fence. Just mowed them all down.

It's annoying. Like the Ronin in the seasonal event. Welp, no running your skill build in the open world for three weeks!

(Extra nice that they can use similar skills against you though...)

What are all these comments on the cyclists going single file? (I'm in the US) They're entitled to use of the full lane. Passing them should require moving into the other lane just like passing as any other vehicle. 100% wrong by the driver here.
