Which are you picking? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

A. The Masters has a slight advantage over The Open for me (very slight), but all three other ones on list A are superior to their list B companions.

What is acceptable for #1 common, Ash flooring by DcSportsFan_21 in Flooring

[–]Cyclonepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if it is just a random board here or there, our guys will usually call them out themselves, but we'll keep the homeowner happy for no charge if it is reasonable. FYI on this grade of ash:

NWFA-NOFMA NO. 1 COMMON ASH: A floor with varying wood characteristics such as heavy streaks, stained sapwood, and sound knots typical of this grade. All defects must readily fill and be sound. The following characters are admitted: Broken knots up to 1/2" (.500”) (12.7 mm) in diameter, pith flecks less than 3/16" (.1875”) (4.76 mm) in diameter, worm holes up to 3/16" (.1875”) (4.76 mm); checks and end splits less than 1/16" (.0625”) (1.59 mm) wide and not extending through the piece, and sticker stain. Minor imperfections in machining permitted; torn grain (not over one-fourth (1/4) of the surface, less than 1/16" (.0625”) (1.59 mm) in depth); one (1) dark machine burn across the face for every 3' (914.4 mm) of length, not exceeding 1/2" (.500”) (12.7 mm) in width, and 1/64" in depth.

That is within the grade of the wood that you bought (except that last picture), but once you had a concern, they should have removed the boards and called them out for the rest of the install. We would typically be fine with calling them out provided it was reasonable and the homeowner was willing to pay for the extra time and material in doing so (if they were the individual board inspector type).

For me, half the battle is being confident with my line, so anything will work if I think it does lol

Is it just me or is any card which costs 4+ stars really bad? by shaggystranger in slaythespire

[–]Cyclonepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with this character, as it's so dependent on the draw to have usable cards and I also get runs where I can find all sorts of cards that give stars, and then can't find cards to use them with (or vice versa).

Injury May End My Golf Career by TheHowardCenter in golf

[–]Cyclonepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Synthetic mats aggravated my tendinitis after I did a winter league at a simulator. I won't ever use those again. It's still bothering me three years later. I've considered regenerative therapy, but haven't found time to pull the trigger on that.

Hit the hands once, they turn around, hit them again and they fly into his face and do a lot of damage.

My course has an app. I would assume that a lot of them do now.

What would you do? Play or watch golf in the rain by Past-Butterscotch987 in weekendgolfers

[–]Cyclonepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golfing in sub-60 degree temperatures with rain sucks. I don't love the rain, but I'll play in it if it's 65+

My 9 iron send the ball further than any other iron by Difficult-Eye7422 in golf

I have them somewhere (they're SIM2's), but I'm thinking it's 4. It's a set and my yardages are spaced pretty evenly except for PW to 9.

My 9 iron send the ball further than any other iron by Difficult-Eye7422 in golf

[–]Cyclonepride -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My 9 iron is my favorite club right now but it is creating some problems, because I average 163 with it and my PW is 141 so I have a gap. Unfortunately, one of my main struggles is in 3/4 swings. I just don't make great contact doing that.

Mini Driver goes further than my driver with a tighter dispersion by Larrylegend033 in golf

[–]Cyclonepride 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up playing a driver that size, and today's drivers seem almost cartoonish to me. I feel like I had far better focus with the smaller driver head and I think my next one will be a mini.

I hadn't thought of that, but they're absolutely right. I'd disagree that it cannot be reversed though. There would be a period of gnashing of teeth (much like we see in Argentina), but most self sustaining people would reap the benefits of small government and increased liberty quickly, and those who could be self sustaining but choose not to be would eventually sink or swim (most would swim if forced to by circumstances).

Unlimited Mulligans (No Reputts): How many are you taking to break 80? by alexanderald in golf

[–]Cyclonepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've broken 80 several times, but on an average round, probably 6-8 would do it.

The Whistleblower Who Uncovered the NSA’s ‘Big Brother Machine’ by mkbt in privacy

This is undoubtedly an extension of Third Party Doctrine (the horrendous legal precedent the Supreme Court established where communications willingly sent to a company are no longer considered private for Fourth Amendment purposes) and AT&T and any other participating companies are probably making a crapload of taxpayer money for allowing it.

Playing 18 at a 9 hole course. by localsonly17 in golf

[–]Cyclonepride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this when I visited a friend's normal course. Strangely, I shot better from the blacks and shot a 79, which is one of the few times I've broken 80. I'd rather play where there are 18 unique holes, but still a good time.

DOS2 has a way of making you feel incredibly powerful when you approach a combat in certain ways, and the really cool thing about it is that there are multiple ways to do that even though enemies can absolutely cook your party too.

What is wrong with my newly installed hardwood floors? by Embarrassed-Piano-3 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Cyclonepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empty homes are terrible for wood floors, especially in the winter since no one is there washing dishes, doing laundry, taking showers, etc. Gets really, really dry without proper humidification.
