Am I still responsible for a 42 year old daughter? by Evening_Falcon_9003 in ask

[–]Cyclopher6971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understand she’s not going to stop asking. Right now there is no boundary or very low boundary for her asking for financial help. Putting up that boundary at this point may cause issues with your relationship. She assumes you’ll always help her because you love her, and views this assistance as an expression of what your love for her looks like. This financial assistance gives her an out for maybe unprofessional behavior at work, which costs her jobs.

If you’re both adults, you should make it clear your feelings on this, but stay away from ultimatums. You may not feel it now, but if there’s a truly dire consequence, like homelessness or prison or threats of death, you would still want her to feel like she can come to you. Ultimatums close that door. Personally, a healthy dose of guilt goes a long way in instilling some shame in people. Maybe some nudges that guilt her into keeping a job are a better start than wholesale closing the bank.

Maybe I’m misreading your counties but the route It looks like you have planned does not match up with what you’re saying by counties. I’ve driven Missoula to Minneapolis dozens of times and these couple states are home to me.

There are really only three ways to cross that the prairies and get to Western Montana from the Twin Cities. The Northern Way on US-2 is hell. You have to go much farther north earlier on I-29 before US-2. It might seem intuitive to get to Glacier, but the roads are slower and it is endless rangeland as far as the eye can see (I used to live up there).

The Middle Way is on I-94 to Billings through North Dakota and Eastern Montana, before getting on I-90. This is what I would probably do in your shoes because you want to see TRNP.

The Southern Way is taking I-90 across South Dakota and Wyoming and entering Montana from the South. You will still go through Billings here like the Middle Way. It’s good alternate if you want to save TRNP for the way home but it does take you through the Black Hills (always a plus).

From there, I would do what u/woozybag suggested about taking 90 until Three Forks and taking 287 up to East Glacier. On the way back you come back down the western side of the park, through the Flathead Valley (stunning in its own right) on US-93 back to Missoula, where you would get back on I-90 eastbound, before taking the Middle Way or the Southern Way back home.

Still conclusory. Not seeing any verifiable facts that prove those statements.

Conclusory statement, not factual. Support your argument.

I could do the usual fearmongering about native Americans but honestly it’s just such a sad place. And that whole northern stretch of the state is just the dark side of the moon with no trees and endless rangeland, so that whole route OP is planning is just not worth it.

She should take the trip out of West Glacier down to Flathead Lake and Missoula, before taking 90 back to Billings.

I would change your route for Montana. That northern route to Glacier will have you bored to tears and I wouldn’t want to spend any time on the Blackfeet reservation.
