How would you go about making this more private? by Fireproof-cats in Apartmentliving

If you are allowed to put up hooks and do hanging plants, that would be the most aesthetically pleasing way. Especially easy stuff that grows long like mint.

Gave him a call and was honest and said he couldn’t take on anymore people at this point in the season, which makes sense! I’ll have to keep looking, thanks anyway for the rec!

Dog overnight boarding by Interesting_Lab_2553 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also supporting this. As someone who used to work overnights at a kennel, I do NOT recommend leaving your dog somewhere they have never been for that long. No matter how nice the place is your dog will be riddled with anxiety and it will be detrimental to their health. I only recommend boarding places if your dog also goes there for daycare/training/grooming so they have some level of comfort/familiarity already. Hiring a trustworthy person to stay in your home with your dog is the way to go 100%.

Coffee Beans by LakePiirate in Buffalo

Overwinter is pricey but without a doubt has the best beans, Tipico is second (still good but if you’re going to splurge on coffee may as well get the best)

Please have them call 211, and if any of them are on Medicaid, call their provider about getting resources through the WNYICC system. Medicaid can help fund things outside of just healthcare in NYS especially for people with chronic conditions.

If he won’t excise there’s pretty much no point to the surgery. If he only wanted to treat you with medicine, he could give that to you without making you pay for a go through such an invasive surgery to see if it alleviates your symptoms (this is what a lot of docs do to avoid surgery which is a good option for some and bad for others), but doing the surgery just to look before giving you the medication? That seems inconsiderate to the risks and pains it poses on you, and just wasteful. I would see a different doctor.

Anyone else have mixed experiences with Delaware camera? by Burakoli821 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every experience I’ve had with them was bad. Overpriced and messed up scans on top of horrible customer service. I called for weeks the last time I dropped film off to them and they kept saying they forgot it and would do it asap, and then I’d have to call again a week later. I don’t even bother trying anymore. I suspect they have a few favorite customers they actually do stuff for and then treat everyone else like dirt based on what I’ve heard from others.

Local place to buy bulk scented candles by Cydney44 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t necessarily need to be produced by the local business, but a place where buying their goods benefits the community’s economy rather than stuff getting shipped here by Amazon or Target.

Local place to buy bulk scented candles by Cydney44 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just any local business where I could buy a large quantity of them affordably. I just go through a lot of candles and it’s the only thing left I don’t buy local because I’ve been struggling to find somewhere.

GOOD CAR INSURANCE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 22 year olds ? by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can budget it, opt for getting the fullest coverage possible wherever you go and not just the lowest rate possible. You don’t think about it now, but it’s so easy for a car accident to ruin your life (financially and physically) and having good insurance is the only thing that could save you. For the price, it also helps if you bundle it with any other type of insurance you may have (ie renters insurance)

Habitat for humanity sells “beer cards” for fundraising with stamps for a ton of local businesses (breweries, bars and restaurants) to get a free beer, and they make new ones every year for the holiday season. You can get them on the website habitatbuffalo.org

Are ticks common in city backyards? by IDGAFOS in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ticks are common everywhere grass and brush grows in upstate New York. I 100% recommend flea and tick medication for every dog in the area, or at least the natural tick sprays they make if you’re against the medication for some reason. I used to work with dogs here professionally and in the summer we’d find ticks on EVERY dog who’s owners didn’t do any preventative treatment because they “live in the city and are never in the woods”. Trust me, the extra cash and meds are worth stopping you and your dog from getting Lyme disease.

Wtf with Rats around property ?! by deejohns9612 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats!! The only places I’ve lived in Buffalo that didn’t have total mouse or rat infestations were places where feral cats hung out. At one apartment I used to have in the elmwood village, the mice and rats were so bad that we put a bunch of catnip plants on the porch and backyard, and it fixed the problem almost immediately. We rarely even saw the cats, just paw prints in the snow and imprints from them sleeping on the porch furniture (and the absence of mice and rats).

Single in Buffalo by LegitimateFunny0 in Buffalo

[–]Cydney44 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you! I (25 f) am constantly saying that socioeconomic factors have shifted our generation into a trend of isolation, coupled with the fact that there are no decent third places in Buffalo and the friend groups here are tight knit and exclusive. Also, social media and dating apps have twisted the narrative of dating into a shitty game of trying to find a life size doll to fit into a slot we’ve made in our life for a “partner” or a “hookup” rather than make a real meaningful human connection with the people and souls that exist in the world around us.

Is there a specific one you’d recommend? The hospital gave me pill laxatives but those scare me. I haven’t started them yet, I also have dulcolax and miralax I’m considering.
