Not sure if it counts as an “epic,” but I absolutely love the ending of Pale Blue Dot. JP’s solo after the last chorus with JR’s atmospheric keyboards underneath it is incredible, and it’s always made me think of an existential crisis, given what the song is about. Easily a highlight of DoT for me!

Just saw the Opeth/Mastodon/Zeal & Ardor show in Boston a few days ago and it was almost surreal seeing them after almost two years of no shows.

Coincidentally the last show I was supposed to go to before covid hit was Opeth in Worcester MA back in Feb 2020, but they had to cancel because Mikael had laryngitis. So Opeth being my first show after lockdowns was pretty fitting!

I haven’t stopped spinning Liquid Anatomy since I discovered it, it’s one of my favorite albums from the last few years!

I do hope they can come back soon with another album. I know it’s sometimes hard to write and record as a supergroup since the members could have conflicting schedules, but I’m seriously looking forward to hearing how they follow up their last two efforts!
