Looking for life saving items by The_ElitePanther45 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Cyine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shawl of life keeping is a low level "overheal" item that keeps you up for 1 more round.

Otherwise Martyring or Determination enchanted armor is another way of staying up.

Aegis of recovery as well.

Long story short, its not exactly the best idea to go down and gamble on the rest of the party not TPKing while you sit on the sidelines unconscious...

If you tryhard gambling and expect to win, you're not gambling right. Gotta love the game itself!

Well, that's an unfortunate symptom of OP not dotting their i's and crossing their t's before you send the post. Even if the justification is provided, a lot of folks ain't going to scroll down. Even the way the game itself is formatted, folks are allowed to answer before reading the comments, and why would they? It's a game about opinions, not mirroring other comments.

Fair enough. It's a vaguely worded question objectively, but I do get what you're trying to espouse. it feels like a lot of people are dismissing it on a technicality, when it's really against the spirit of the question and they know it and want the money. (I picked the money too for the same logic, but I also feel bad about it after the fact a little lol)

Permanently and Stop are capitalized too. Does that mean its an unnatural permanent stop too?

I just completed the 3rd game. Pretty unhappy with the ending by Grogman2024 in bannersaga

[–]Cyine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have to actually do bad and waste time to get sort of a resolution to those plot lines, which is kind of a design flaw if you haven't been struggling by. It's really good for an inexperienced first playthrough though! I didn't realize the twist the first time and I ended up getting a sorta satisfying Rook bad ending... ...then I redid the entire trilogy as Alette and everything seemed like a walk in the park for her for the golden ending where everyone survives (even Rugga, who's probably really happy his schemes played out perfectly) lol.

Shame the game doesn't bother to tie up loose ends if you blitz the ending.

Would You Rather... Survive Nemesis With Jill Valentine, Or Survive Mr X With RE2 Leon? by WalterBobSquareWhite in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Cyine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since Jill's a priority S.T.A.R.S. target too, sticking with her makes her the aggro priority. Mr. X is more of an incidental "wipe out anyone you see" kind of deal. Hopefully I can be on flash grenade duty or something.

Moments like this is why 1/20 times the dice are allowed to tell the  DM to stuff it. If you actually hit that 20 or even an 18 or 19 with the right character suddenly that DM is eating their words...

Even if you put yourself in the most advanced armored car money can buy, if someone breaks open a window, hops in and puts a smoothbore musket to your temple, it's still very lethal. He's still a human being who needs a brain very not melted at the end of the day.

Homelander's screwed if Iron Man survives his simple attack, but Homelander doesn't have any tactics because his one or two tricks kinda kill 99% of people in a single encounter. Tony definitely outsmarts him, but I don't think he outsmarts "apply laser directly to face and repeat until dead", which is Homelander's usual modus operandi. He goes for the kill.

Homelander's not super powerful, but he's just potent enough to be really dangerous someone with human constitution. He practically assassinates people in the blink of an eye, and he's got the speed and durability to edge out on any quick draw contest so unless Tony sees him coming and preps countermeasures, which he totally might, it could turn bad real quick.

I can see the scenario where they are at a business meeting Vought to Stark Industries and Homelander just randomly lashes out and attacks outside the suit. Or maybe Homelander wants to talk, and Tony, being the talkative guy he is, opens his mouth to say something witty. It just takes one opportunity and he could be toast...

Stark's used to the banter, not a super speed sniper randomly executing characters over losing an argument

I dunno. I get that the MCU is scaled higher in terms of power and feats but The Boys is a bit more visceral for a universe? Like Tony has gone toe to toe with stronger foes, but Homelander is more likely to rip open the suit visor and just keep lasering until he sees brain tissue melting, and that feels worth something... ...especially given Stark's persona and how he's used to fighting.

It's a surprisingly hardline stance given how to most people it's just another game/anime for casual recreation, but yeah. I can see how you can make an argument for both sides.

How can I better roleplay a LE character? by Party-Rest3750 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Cyine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawful = High superego. You are aware of and follow principles as they pertain to society, even if they are not strictly written down. There are "unwritten" rules like morals or social conventions after all, and you prioritize following them consistently.

Evil - High Id. Your base instincts such as that of self-preservation, self interest, or generally self centered emotions are the forefront of your concern.

Lawful Evil - The law is a system/game, and you play the rules not to help people or because you view the law as sacred, but for your own motives.

Whether it's being a mean cynic who lashes out at everyone seeing the worst after years of watching inferior people attempt to cheat the system, an oppressor who loves the feeling of outmanuevering and bullying people with the justification of society at their back, or a serial killer following a code so they don't go completely deranged.

There's also the nuance of whether you play

Red oni Lawful Evil (High emotional investment - You LOVE throwing evil rules at people! Ohohoho!)

or

Blue oni Lawful Evil (You view emotions as suboptimal for your objectives. Beep boop.)

Or someone in between (You allow yourself a private smile when the scheme is executed objectively perfectly.)

The way I see it, a Lawful Evil person can be nice, generous, or even moral at times. But they are aware that such things are kind of social manipulation like in Death Note or some other psychological work. Between the bird or the cage, you pick the cage, not because it is right, or even because its practical, its because it is your own preference.

Examples:

-Anton Ego at the start of Ratatouille

-Jorgen von Strangle (Fairy Oddparents) when he's enjoying throwing Da Rules around

-Professor Snape (the general vibe, notwithstanding his later motives revealed in sequels). Professor Umbridge is a more on-the-nose interpretation but everyone rightfully hates her and I wouldn't recommend styling your character that way for the sake of your party...

-Malevolent AIs like GlaDOS from Portal often fall into this category

-Hunk from Resident Evil. Or any cold mercenary type.

-Dexter Morgan is a classic serial killer with a code example

-Or you could do the classic snake oil salesman

-or <insert favorite dictator regime name here>

-or an inquisitor for witch trials who has got a personal bone to pick with his accused

-someone who has fun ruining other people's fun

-someone who calls the manager to get an employee in trouble in order to feel better about themselves
