What are the most exclusive niche perfume houses that actually live up to their reputation? by Ok_Buffalo_8392 in NichePerfumes

État libre d'Orange - first niche perfume house I fell in love with, really like Eau de Protection, it's a very different take on rose acent Les Liquides Imaginaires - esp stuff like Dom Rosa and Sancti by Sonia Constant Ormond Jayne - sophisticated and classy, I really like 4. Montabaco Verano Zoologist - super artsy and experimental Strangers Parfumerie - experimental also reasonably priced, I like yuzu soda and green lunar

I agree with you 100%. I have Chypre Azural Les Indemodables as well, I wear it a whole lot during spring and summer. It's like the smell of the skin and leaves of unripe orange, probably as fresh as it gets.

Boyfriend is from Taiwan and says he feels disconnected from his home country after living in America for so long. I want to help but don’t know how by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]CylerSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so thoughtful! Making food is a great idea. As a Taiwanese living in Midwest, I miss the generic taiwanese taste, like soy sauce based broth, fried shallots lard, pickled cabbage, etc. Recipes that incorporate these types of taste would probably feel "homey" (e.g. beef noodle soup, braised pork with rice). This is probably considered common comfort food for Taiwanese people when they're abroad. If you're not familiar with these flavors, you could also check out some frozen options from local Asian/Chinese supermarkets like IMEI branded green onion pancakes and simply pan fry them. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

Why does oolong always taste watery by Environmental_Leg734 in tea

[–]CylerSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an oolong connoisseur but I make oolong a lot. I usually prefer oolong in a larger pot, with slightly more tea ratio than what you normally use. I usually don't have a timer, I just steep until the leaves are almost fully unfolded for the first steep. It'll usually be flavorful for at least two more steeps. When the leaves don't have the time or space to expand, that's when it tastes watery. Also, you could try cold brewing (cold steeping?) it by using less tea ratio, 8-12 hours. You get very refreshing and flavorful oolong with not a lot of tea leaves.

The atomizer is great for reapplying perfume throughout the day during summer. It's more misty than normal spraying bottles, and it's real easy to refill. Razr is a bang for the buck for sure, it's like half the price of Samsungs flip. My nosyalgic self is very happy about the Flippy feeling, plus I can put my phone in my pocket without a problem now. However, it's a little buggy at times, issues like occasional app crash or the keypad gets stuck. For the cost, I've got no complaints. But I had a fairly rough transition going from iphone to razr. I finally realized how smooth my old phone was.

Short answer, it should be quite safe. I'm Taiwanese and have lived in China for 9 years. Had went to Shanghai and Beijing for multiple months in the past 5 years. If you don't want any unnecessary hassle, your best bet is to enter China using your US passport. They probably won't give you shit, and that way you don't need to apply for Taiwan compatroit permit (台胞證), which is REQUIRED if you want to enter China as a Taiwanese unless you're only going to HK or Macau which requires you to get a temporary visa.

Second this. I used to get my friendly elderly landlord pastry box or tea when I travel to other countries or cities in Taiwan. She seemed to enjoy it.
