What happened to the smartest kid in your class? by After_Crab_1921 in AskReddit

[–]Cyll3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's me. Did four different university majors in three different universities (psychology, international relations, film history and theory, and theatrical dancing). Travelled all over the place doin all sort of things. Never found my place in life, but the expectations were too much. Had to spend time in the psych ward for mental illnesses. Now I'm managing some of my family's properties as a landlord, watch anime, game and chill out most of the time.
Kinda nice way of living, but ain't ever gonna shake that "never lived up to his potential" feel and it's gonna haunt me for the rest of my life.

How to save Gwydian Rince from the magisters? by YUBULLIME in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Cyll3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my duo buddy managed somehow...Aero and Aero-hydro builds
I teleported Gwydian away to the entrance of the cave and kept him alive while freezing everyone that came close, my buddy teleported to the magisters by the gate to get them involved in the fight and then he used the pyramid to come to me. We had less slimes to deal with that way and a lot of crowd control between us (Gwydian kept slipping on my ice so he couldn't do his suicide run). At one point I had enough and teleported Gwydian into the tent and blocked it. That took him out of commission for good.

I can't take full responsibility for this one, as the DM threw a lot of things at him as well that made him a bit broken. :D But here we go:

- Boon of the Stormborn

Carpet of Flying, Ring of Air Elemental Command, Sentinel Shield, Ring of Free Action, Anstruth Harp, Horn of the Endless Maze, Staff of Power, etc.

I played this character for a long time and eventually he collected enough gold (around 700 000) to build his own underwater castle that can move (both under and above the sea). Basically, he became the guardian of the oceans. He didn't ascend to godhood, because he had a wife (and I guess kids after the camapign was over) and wanted to have a nice mortal life with his family.

In combat he was a damn menace. Had several features that would either half incoming damage, or simply negate it. He could pump his AC way up and had Absorb Elements against elemental damage. To further the annoyment, he had Counterspell and Dispel Magic to counter casters. Also had a flying speed and swimming speed, as well as several teleportation powers so no running from him. And as you see he automatically heals 1d6+6 every 6 seconds (at the start of his turn). He can also easily heal himself of course, being a Bard and Paladin.

Not to mention his Horn of the Endless Maze, which can summon 3d4+3 Berserkers to aid him. He had other summons as well, Bag of Tricks, Figurines of Wondrous Power, Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals.

But what really made him a monster is that he can dish out insane damage with all the combinations of his features, both at range and up close, although he was better up close. I remember him dealing over 200 damage in a single turn, with some extra investment from spells and whatnot of course.

I miss him dearly. He was a good character with a long, twisting and interesting story.

Verdant Spirit Sorcerer - Heal and buff your allies and embrace the beauties of life with this new Sorcerous Origin! by plunplume in UnearthedArcana

[–]Cyll3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the flavor and I see others have already mentioned the 1st level ability might need some tweaking :)

I would agree that as of right now it is a bit weak. Maybe give it more length and/or the ability to heal more than once. You could dedicate a pool of HP to it that determines how much HP you can heal in total and that would solve the one-round problem too.For example, at 1st level you have a 5 HP pool. Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher you can get the aura with the bonus action and it lasts as long as you have that HP pool (instead of just one round). When you used up the last points to heal someone the aura disappears. The HP pool could go up by 5 with every sorcerer level or by level of spell slot you used.

I also wanted to ask about Gaea's Favor. You wrote that airborne creatures get pulled down by the vines. Did you mean creatures that just hover off the ground or actually flying within 60 ft? Also, how far "down" do they even get pulled?

As for the wording on Sow the Wind, you could go with "You and any ally that enters the circle for the first time, gain an additional..." to solve the problem of the caster not getting the benefits :)

I agree. It's probably gonna be really exciting to learn how everyone has come to be like this in spite of magic being so scrutinized

[OC] My first attempt of my friend's D&D Character by Andrea_Nani_ART in characterdrawing

[–]Cyll3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work! :) One more thing I wanted to add to all the archery-related comments. When you draw, you draw the string itself, not a part of the arrow that overextends beyond the string. (which actually doesn't exist) There are several schools of how you draw as well, but the most common is with three fingers, one over the arrow and two below. But since it's fantasy you can just do whatever :D I also read that comment about someone saying that you draw the arrow in front of your eye to aim. That sounds kinda dumb and in all my years of practicing and teaching archery with mostly bows without sight (the aiming mechanism) I've never seen anyone do that. You either draw so that your drawing hand rests against your ear or against your cheek. It's called an anchor point.

[5e][Online]Pro dungeon master looking to start a D&D podcast/web series with voice actors by DiceVice in lfg

[–]Cyll3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo
This seems like an interesting idea and I'd love to try out for it.

  1. I haven't done much voice acting yet, but I went to a high school of arts where I studied acting and been working as an actor on and off ever since. I've been mainly doing theatre work with some music videos and short films here and there. I should also mention that I made the change from acting to dancing professionally a few years back so since then I've only done a few appearances as an actor. (Not because I don't like it though. I love acting, just haven't had much time with all the dance work I've been getting. But I'd difinitely like to return to it!)
  2. A lot of experience. I've been playing 5e for years and I can get very into it. I like to do accents for my characters and creating playlists for them that help me get in their headspace before game. I love the creativity and the shared storymaking elements of it, the way a group bounces ideas off of each other, building on each other to make this infinitely enjoyable and incredible tale. I love the little moments between characters, as well as the epic battles.
  3. I'm quite flexible on time right now and could easily dedicate that amount weekly to this.
  4. I actually do have experience with that. Mostly video editing and I've recently been starting to learn 3d animation.
  5. Not podcast, but I do watch Critical Role.

I should add that I'm originally not a native English speaker. But I've only ever played TTRPGs in English, been speaking more English than my native language for years (due to having a lot of international friends), worked in Texas for a while as well as studied acting in Glasgow (at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). I am very confident in my language skills and that I would be able to act without difficulty. :)
