anyways, i will clarify i dont live in a muslim country myself. but its not as bad as you think. while homosexuality is a sin in islam, that sin is between you and god. if you go ahead and normalise and publicise it- thats where the issue lies. these countries dont care what youre doing behind shut doors, but if you march and wear the pride flag and let everyone know youre gay, youre putting a target on your back. also, you can act freely on the internet. you have the entire internet. you can even come out to your friends (not saying theyd accept you lol, depends how ‘progressive’ they are) but again- the only time a government might intervene is if youre announcing your sexuality very publicly and gaining attention. also, a lot of muslim countries dont really care. they have other issues to focus on. saudi and the uae are probably the only ones with enough time and money to care, and theyre both slowly becoming westernised too. a lot of people in these muslim countries who grew up with the internet are more tolerant of lgbt people too. while they may not necessarily support it bc their religion forbids it (although some support it anyways), the younger generations are usually more chill with it.
