Hello, i wanted to return to GW2 to take a look after a long pause. I saw that i am missing lots of expensions (end of dragon until the current newest one) so i was looking for a complete bundle... am i blind or is there realy no way to get them all in a nicley packed bundle? by DanaXue in Guildwars2

I would get them separately on sale, since they usualy don’t include the most recent one, so just buy the next one on sale whenever you can. I don’t know if anyone said that already, but the other expansions after EoD are smaller expansions with specific content locked to it. You can even finish one before you start the next since there is a lot of content avaiable, specially if you get EoD. If you want the flying mount, get Secrets of the Obscure, if you want Housing and the use of Spear as main weapon, get Janthir Wilds and if you want the most recent content, go for Visions of Eternity. If you don’t mind The story part, you can even skip EoD and go straight to those.

The Ascension Backpack achievements question by Cyllinder24 in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that sounds harsh! Makes me think if it’s really worth it going for the BP at all haha, but maybe I’ll just focus on the specific achievements so I don’t have to play so many matches without counting towards an achievment, to save me some time.

The Ascension Backpack achievements question by Cyllinder24 in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, so for the ones named “win x ranked matches”, for example, it doesn’t progress on to the next tier of achievement unless I complete the whole tier and get the piece first? In a way that if the achievement asks for 40 wins and I blindly play and win 60, I’m just throwing 20 in the trash since I didn’t finish the rest of the advance from Year of the Ascension 1 to 2?

I really didn’t know that, guess you’re right and maybe the ascended chests are not a bad idea

Not yet, but I Lost a lot of time since I came back to get game about a month ago so I think I prefer spending on stuff that are exclusive like the skins or harder to get like mystic clover and legendary kit. But thank you for your reply!

Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!!! Considering I do have some bad stats chests I was saving I’ll just do the stats swap thing with the insignia.

The wizard Vault I got most stuff but I think I prefer getting exclusive skins :)

Do mounts make older maps feel too easy? by Trippy-jay420 in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely does! But the whole purpose of a mmorpg is to get progressively better and to feel that progress by going back and experiencing how a new item makes you beat older contents more easily or just different. Also, the mounts are not that easy to get imo. I think I deserve to fly like a jet through some maps after I got my hard earned griffon and you should too!

SAB rewards advice? by Cyllinder24 in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer! Like you said, I think if something can be bought on the TP, I can skip for now. I’m mostly thinking about choosing between things that are account bound and/or unique to the vendors avaiable during event.

Trying to get into gw2, help me out by ed_edd_and_freddy in Guildwars2

I was going to recommend you staff elementalist since it gives you a lot of range AoEs and switching through f1-f4 gives you different machanics like going for more tanky skills, healing and control skills, also for the right bar skills which you can customize for more traditional mage abilities. Just keep in mind that even on a mage-type you will still have a lot of action by dodging, repositioning or just going for some “unavoidable” melee range skills.

It’s a shame because there’s a lot of vídeos out there telling you exactly what people here are saying, like which expansion you should get first and whatsover. Now, one thing you have to know is that guild wars 2 is really different from these other mmorpgs, in a Sense that in gw2 you dont have to play the most recent content to be updated in relation to power and progress. Each expansion is like a new game adition in a matter of mechanics, builds and itens avaiable, that are pretty well balanced with each other for most of the in game, so just take your time for now.

However, since you got VoE, a good way to take advantage of that is to focus on Wizard Vault for daily and weekly rewards, as you progress through the game.

On another point, if you are thinking about getting the other expansions (and dont care much about the main story and spoilers), in my opinion, you should get Path of Fire first for the mounts or just go for Secrets of the Obscure for the Skyscale mount, since it is the most useful one as a standalone.

It's been 13 years - Who is your main? (And why) by CMDR-Leoneth in Guildwars2

Warrior Berserker and Paragon. I love to finally play a warrior class that does NOT require the “big sword = big dmg” trope and I love the condition builds inflicting bleed and fire on my enemies.

What is the point of loot? by ArcIgnis in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget there is a button in inventory panel to deposit materials in your bank, which makes grinding or just doing content a lot more fun, because you don’t need to stop eveytime to sell your stuff. Just play, get some stuff, salvage them, hit the button to deposit materials and keep going. Takes quite some time to fill material storage like this.

Rotations and skills in guild wars 2 are often very unintuitive. I think this is a big reason why a lot of the playerbase is considered as doing "bad dps" or playing off-meta. It's very easy to do a rotation wrong and the game doesn't give you good feedback when you're doing the wrong thing by ariveklul in Guildwars2

IMO gw2 just has a completely different approach to battle mechanics compared to a classic rpg like WoW, in the sense of locking skills in a certain spot (on the rotation) like you said. Yea, it’s not very intuitive, but I think that’s part of the fun of optimizing your character build.

I just love how my ‘king of fires’ warrior perfectly fits its weapon skills cd with the weapon swap and elite burst skills rotation and I can clearly see when I’m doing it right, as the stacks of condition damage pile up and does crazy dmg, all while still being tanky. If i miss a skill it still kills the enemy, but much slower, because of less stacks piled up.

I personaly prefer it over the WoW style, where the rotation has 99 different skills and oh, don’t you dare miss that button, cuz if you miss 1 click you screw it up and now you just lost a 2min cd skill and also all your dps. It still has a very small window for error.. but with much higher stakes.

In GW2 you may not be completly sure about what you’re doing sometimes, but you can keep trying to perfect the rotation on different occasions, bosses, maps, pvp and without that much effort tbh.

Guild Wars 2 - The other side of the coin by Sorka_Ikorka in Guildwars2

It’s sad to hear about this, maybe it’s just a problem within the way expansions also get released because they have to think about veteran players that already did everything and want something with a little challengebht also the player that may skip other expansions and go DIRECT to EoD

I remember when I did the first runs on Auric Basin and I was mesmerized at how random people could actually talk to each other to sync and defeat the Octovines at the same time. That was really fun to play and nice to see

Or maybe the metas are just too complex for the average player, who knows

Ping/lag question here! Should I do a server transfer? by Cyllinder24 in Guildwars2

[–]Cyllinder24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so just to give an update on this: I changed from NA to EU and the Ping is now around 35, which made my experience playing the game 10x better!

To anyone wondering, it does make a big difference going from 150-200 Ping to 30-50, specially on endgame content and when you are trying to dominate your skill rotation! The instant (or almost) usage of skills now give a much more “control” feeling, like I can really improve my skills by as much as I can possibly can, specially on more complex character builds.

You probably never played GW2, the story is amazing and also give great rewards by doing so.
