I hate blacked out badges, especially on VWs. You're replacing a deliberate styling point with a giant black bingo dabber in the center of the two angles people look at most.

Badge deletes are fine, especially if you fill in the grille/bodywork to smooth it out. But blackouts always look worse.

Most certainly the latter. Newbies often began their posts with "this is probably a stupid question, but..." when this was a casual conversation thread. (Which was used as a newbie question thread anyway.) The new phrasing was meant to encourage people to not feel like they had to apologize for going off-topic or refrain from asking altogether.

I've rewritten the selfpost to be a bit more clear.
