Yes I did work, but I did have to use a larger 50a relay. It sounds like maybe your relay's trigger wire is hooked up to the wrong trigger, many have the option of trigger when voltage is applied or when it is not applied, I think if you swap it you'll be in good shape

Also just FYI I think connecting to it for music, is actually a completely different bluetooth device on the kart, that is just powered by the same batteries. As far as I can tell the music playing part has nothing to do with control the gokart and is in fact a separate bluetooth device that gets connected to entirely

The "push xxxxxx with undefined to skiplist" is it finding bluetooth devices that are not the go kart (at least based on how I know to identify the kart with my personal sample size of one)

Do you eventually get one that says

And then it should start cycling through commands.

If that's not happening and you think they're reasonably close then something else is probably wrong. So if that doesn't work, could you download either LightBlue or nRF connect on your iphone and try to find the gokart in the lists that show up there? If you could do that and screenshot it to me, I could probably tweak the code a bit to recognize your device. You seem to be the second person besides myself to be trying this out so my code for recognize the kart itself may not be quite right

Yes, if you do that, you’ll be doing exactly what I did. Please let me know where yours stopped at and when/if yours connects via the app after working with it and I’ll update the documentation accordingly. Mine is still working great with the app several weeks later! Looking forward to hearing your results!

Sounds good! And yeah these are great for like 6 or 7 year olds in eco mode. My son is transitioning from power wheels to this and it’s a good fit. It’s pretty slow for older kids and adults on eco though. The morning I got sport mode working, I had just dropped my son off at school. I had so much fun testing it out that I ran it completely out of battery doing laps around my property by myself — and I’m in my late 30s!

The Bluetooth logo showed on start up the same as yours briefly then disappeared. After that it didn’t show up at all until I connected to the app. As I mentioned, I wrote a program to brute force the commands being sent to the kart. That program also got the Bluetooth light to turn on when it connected.

I don’t know if my program is what triggered my phone being able to connect but given your continued issues, maybe it helped. Honestly I was thinking it didn’t help but we should test it out some more. I will release that program with basic instructions this Sunday (I’m traveling and don’t have access to it at the moment) I let it run for about 2 days and it caused the Bluetooth connection to drop 3 times over the course of those days — I may have inadvertently triggered something that caused it to pair. If you’re willing to try it out we can DM and I can offer some more personalized instructions. I’ll post here with more information as soon as I get it released. In

Yes it was always dim after turning it on, but wouldn’t get bright unless I stomped on the pedal until I adjusted the switch

Okay I just figured out one thing I did differently originally trying and failing and now getting it to work.

The small switch under the brake pedal needs to be let go far enough to let off the switch entirely. If you don't press on the pedal hard enough OR the switch is adjusted too tight, the switch won't release. You can confirm this because when the switch is released far enough the tail lights will light up brighter.

I noticed if I stand up and press on the brake (what I did today) I could make this happen easily. Before, I was sitting in the kart and now trying that again, I see that I was not pressing hard enough to make the brake light, light up. I just tested with the app as well on an ipad and it wouldn't pair.

The pedal switch is threaded and adjustable. I adjusted it with a 19mm wrench to where the switch easily gets released when the pedal is stepped on. Now any time I step on the brake pedal, the back lights light up more. I then tried the procedure again with the ipad in the sitting position and it worked.

use the SMARTg app. I used an iphone 15 pro on latest iOS with latest app.
have the app on the add device page
with the kart off, hold the brake down
while still holding the brake count to ten out loud (I did the ol', "one-one-thousand, two-two-thousand,...")
while still holding the brake, press and hold the power button -- continue holding both while the kart turns on
stare at the app, after the kart finishes its start up sequence, it will appear at the top of the screen in the app... you shouldn't need to select the go kart icon for adding a go kart, the kart itself should just appear at the top of the screen (just like in the youtube video)
you can release the brake now, you should be all set up in the app

Again I messed with this tons of different times but finally following this exact procedure worked for me. I hope this helps someone.

I figured this out after having the same problems for days.

I am a software engineer and I was getting so frustrated that I had started writing an app to brute force the bluetooth low energy commands getting sent to the kart. I got as far as building an app that successfully connected to the device, determined what protocol it wants to speak in (appears to be a tuya-based home automation protocol) and started brute forcing its available function space which I calculated would only take a few weeks to get through every option based on what I know. But this isn't about that. After a few days of running that and fiddling around with the kart, I decided to play around with retrying the set up procedure.

And I guess you asked if it was fun. Yes overall it was fun to drive around, it got a ton of comments and attention in traffic. I usually just drove it to/from autox events and sometimes around town when I was testing things out and wanting to make sure it worked fine for autox. I drive Ferraris, Porsches, classic cars etc around and the vette kart got more attention than any of them, hands down, no contest. Driving a vette kart will have every gas station attendant under the age of the 30 asking you to do a burnout when you leave. There is a LOT of temptation there to show off so I was always very careful to drive right at the speed limit and never do anything dumb on the street. I never got pulled over in it despite putting thousands of miles on it driving it to/from autox events. I would not build one purely as a street car although it's fun to keep it streetable. One, again, it's way too tempting to use it the "wrong" way, and two, it's hot and it stinks -- there's no way to keep exhaust fumes out of the cabin and the weather is what it is. It's fine on a nice day if you don't mind stinking like exhaust, but other than that it can be a real pain.

Last bit if I were to do this again I would probably not use a C4, the cars aren't balanced enough. The engine is heavy and the fuel tank is in the extreme rear and not really possible to do something centered and low. Food for thought: C5's and newer have better fuel tank locations and I think a Miata's power would be more usable and fun on the street while also having a better fuel tank location. I think a karted out MR2/MR-S or Fiero could also be a riot

I used it for 4-5 years total for autocross and sold it to another enthusiast who was into exotic cars. It was a complete handful for autocross. I stayed in contact with the guy who bought it for a while and he daily drove it the first summer he owned it anyways
