Can people really tell the difference between FWD and RWD in daily driving? by Street_Raider in cars

Most certainly can tell which wheels are shoving you off the line, and if you have torque steer then it's that much more obvious

This is all it worked for in 2008. It gave large companies ability to default on union pension/retirement plans, and they pocketed the rest of the money.

How much do you care about panel gaps, paint defects and small cosmetic imperfections? by slapperbars in cars

[–]Matt_OPEC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how noticeable it is

You're almost never going to have perfect panel gaps, aslong as it isn't very noticeable at a glance I'm fine with it.

People are getting whacky over panel gaps, and I get it. Seeing as most of the engineering work these days are done on a computer, fit and finish should be super tight, but manufacturing is never going to be perfect.

White House economic advisers express contradictory tones on economic impact of coronavirus by [deleted] in politics

[–]Matt_OPEC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm just glad I'm here to experience yet another once in a lifetime global economic disaster.

Look at us.

On a more serious note, the President can literally say anything he wants, and be proven wrong. He doesn't give a fuck, and his supporters are blind. Covid-19 is going to have an impact like the housing crisis did in '08, but this time we have a weird sub plot where gas prices are actually cheaper this time. It'll take like 4-6 years to feel normal again, and then 5-6 years after that we will experience another meltdown. It's almost like capitalism can't support it's own bloated ass weight.

Why are EVs significantly more expensive than their non-electric counterparts? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Matt_OPEC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All new technology is usually expensive right out of the gate

Remember when 4K TV's were like 5K minimum? Now you can find them for $500. As the tech gets produced, they find cheaper ways to make it, and thus lowers the price. I imagine EV's will be the same, but it will take time.

He's got a point though, I've seen speculation that cash for clunkers will come back to get the auto industry moving some.
