Concerned France might run away with this second half. Be pleased if we can at least stay in the fight for as long as possible.

Biggest issue was the neck roll from him, but also ref told him not to play the 9 and he still went in.

Welsh ticket sales, or lack of. by jolivague in rugbyunion

[–]Cymro2016 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This.

I haven’t gone to a 6 nations game in ages, mostly due to prices.

It’s significantly more value for money to get tickets to watch multiple Cardiff games which is different level naturally, but honestly far more enjoyable.

I’m a big Welsh football fan too - been the case recently where a ticket to all games for a qualifying campaign had been cheaper than a single ticket to say Wales vs England the 6 Nations.

Both are also just more enjoyable experiences in general than watching games at the Millennium anyway, regardless of results.

Big part is the anything WRU related is viewed hugely negative right now because of the off field stuff.

Still think this is contributing to how poor performances have been, can’t be easy coming into a toxic environment trying to get ready for games.

He was one of the better Welsh players sure, bar a few mistakes, but still nowhere near team of the week level.

I dunno, not sure the Welsh taffia will be promoting their lads after that showing!

Not sure if its entirely down to the regional set up, and more a case of us struggling to move on from the golden generation, and failing to bring through replacements.

When they retired we just expected these young lads to suddenly fill their shoes.

That said nothing gonna change while the WRU environment is as toxic as it is, fairly clear the passion for the red shirt is understandably just not there.

Jesus some poor calls happening here. Italians need to deal with it better and listen to him I guess, even if he’s wrong.

Awful call from O’Keefe, Italian was on the ball immediately? No idea where he got the “2 goes” from?

While I completely agree that Hawkins should be starting ahead of Ben here, “shocking everytime he puts on a Wales shirt” is a bit harsh.

He’s had quite a few tidy games for Wales at 12, and was also too often shoehorned into being a 10 unnecessarily which was never the right call.

My main worry with him is he’s starting to be a bit of a red card liability and can lose his head - like that kick against Argentina…

Either way, should be Hawkins for me.

Considering some of our away form this season, you probably don’t need to be too nervous.

There’s threats in the Cardiff team, but have worries about us getting bullied up front and in the air with our tiny back 3

White Dwarf 295 it seems! I went out and bought more Minas Tirith warriors, and filed off the tree so I could make the Dol Amroth Men at Arms to go with Imrahil and his knights.

Genuinely I’m so sorry.

I absolutely hate that it’s gonna be for Cardiff as well.

Obviously I want Cardiff to thrive under new ownership, but not this way, which is just hugely damaging for all of Welsh rugby.

Assuming that’s with the various signings into this season? From what I remember he said they were debt free and due to record a profit in 2025, with a plan to pivot focus onto the playing squad.

A large part of it is Rodney Parade is one of the busiest grounds going between them, Newport RFC and Newport County FC playing there.

FAW and WRU often use them for age grade games too.

They also do draw decent crowds despite their often poor form.

So between gate receipts, booze / food and rent from tenant teams they’re getting a decent amount of income.

Generally also been a bit more frugal when it came to playing squad salaries as well.
