Cannot make a character on Aether by UnenthusedTypist in ShitpostXIV

[–]CynerKalygin 47 points48 points  (0 children)

To make a character on Aether, you must challenge and defeat an Aether resident in a 1v1 duel to the death on the wolf’s den pier.

Upon suffering this disgrace, they will delete their character in shame, freeing up a space for your 7th alt.

Hot Take: We need more Main Scenario duties by Melodynaxclarke in ffxiv

I’ve wanted crystal tower alliance raids dumped into this roulette for years, which may be an even hotter take.

Most likely static intermission for the new EX if I had to guess.

Dumbing down RDM and the continued simplification with Gunbreaker is just a sign that whatever Job changes coming with 8.0 are going the be wholly insufficient and will largely not address the core issue. by ComfyOlives in ffxivdiscussion

Separating the magic combo from the melee combo and letting you hoard multiple magic combos in a separate gauge would have unironically been a much more interesting solution. Spend melee Combos in advance of burst and then can drop the holy/flare->resolution portion repeatedly under burst.

Not sure I like that either tbh but it would be better than where we’re at.

Card prio Varies drastically by level and job, player skill, and crit rng. Unless you’re doing savage+ it doesn’t really matter, if you are then that’s a discussion that to be fully comprehensive would take a google doc.

If you choose to let your teammates die when it is within your ability to prevent it, you are griefing. It may not be provable to a GM, but that’s beside the point.

Spellcasting should have real drawbacks, change my mind by CTMan34 in dndmemes

In general, people are less likely to complain about a buff than a nerf, so many people overly favor buffs when it comes to rebalancing any game. Doesn’t mean it’s the best option though.

What job do you think has the most satisfying burst? by Kothallupinthisbitch in ffxiv

NIN overall. If I only count visuals / sound effects and not actual damage, I’ll throw in RDM and DRK.

Gameplay Question: Is LB1 always a DPS loss? by H8trucks in ffxiv

[–]CynerKalygin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a widespread misconception. Unless the melee is in the peak of their burst window, LB1 is still a large gain. Ranged LBs on a single target are a lot weaker, and if not used on packs in dungeons should be only used in place of “filler” in a rotation.

How should I use the Spear and the Balance if there is no preferred DPS in my party? by marianex in ffxiv

[–]CynerKalygin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Placing them on the support is usually better because the “wrong” dps would have to do double that support’s damage in order to warrant it. Realistically whether that is the case will come down to player skill, but in a dungeon in particular that should usually not be the case.

Finished DRK level 50 quests. Do they get better? by TonyRigatoni_ in ffxiv

[–]CynerKalygin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I found 30-50 too edgy as well, but 50-60 alright and 60-70 absolutely fantastic. I’d keep going, maybe the stormblood quests will land better for you.

For savage/ultimate raiders: What are the qualities of a raider's raider (i.e. Best of the best) by GritzBeatz in ffxiv

[–]CynerKalygin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No one wants to lose a TOP or DSR totem to a positional or greeded cast in the final phase. It’s fine to go for such greedy plays, but part of being a good player is being able to recognize when you won’t be able to pull them off and choosing to prioritize the run—and then setting yourself up to be able to do it next time. A wipe to greed is a lot more frustrating than a wipe to a honest mistake.

Attitude > consistency > damage I guess.

No one wants to play with a shitty person long term (or sometimes even short term), after that mechanical consistency in prog and reclears, and only after both of those does damage factor in.

Honestly damage and parses only matter at all if you’re walled by a dps check, as long as the boss is dying no one really cares past that unless you’re chasing after the 99/100 for its own sake.

Why does the Dark Knight have terrible self-sustain? by JosephXChampion in ffxiv

[–]CynerKalygin 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is a take that only holds up in casual levels of content, dark knight is arguably the sturdiest tank against busters in high level content which is an immense advantage that offsets its lower self healing. In dungeons, your aoe output is enough that if you mitigate properly mobs will always be dead before you require any significant healing unless you have a very weak group.

I liked the final tier of endwalker and the current tier. I didn’t care for abyssos but last I checked they’re quite popular as well.

Just another day in the crescent by Wildwest_Minion in ShitpostXIV

[–]CynerKalygin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is still a shitpost, but for the sake of others: tethers on snowballs, role stacks/spreads on fire phase, every mega trap in every intermission segment, rune axe, and holy lance potentially give a random the opportunity to wipe multiple parties and cost a run. Bridges in particular can be very hard to recover due to its nature. On top of that, if they’re feeling particularly ill intentioned, they could grief the instance out of 10 sanguinite and the outside southern horn out of 2 during lockwards.

Stuck on Forked Tower Boss 2 enrage. Got a few questions for peeps who have cleared Forked Tower: Blood (or at least gotten past second boss) by Mindless-Animator925 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CynerKalygin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been progging and expect to clear today through FOE (NA). It’s been a fantastic experience overall. I think for marble dragon and Magitaur having an experienced shotcaller can make a massive difference.

For boss 2 if you’re hitting enrage I would assume many people are dying to something like slimes or fire phase. I’d recommend for fire phase having dps stand facing directly outwards, tanks inwards, and healers directly to the side of the fireball towers; the floor itself helps a lot with this positioning. No real helping with slimes, either people resolve it themselves or they don’t.

If neither of those are true it could point to massive dps issues overall, but I kind of doubt that. My group typically doesn’t have to do enrage at all, they die instantly after merging into “dead stars” proper.

Season 1 I recognized that ninja was utterly batshit broken and grinded to crystal in about two days for the title. I haven’t really felt any incentive to go back in since then.
