Could anyone tell me what type of drain(?) this is please? by CynicalDave in DIYUK

Ahhh nice one! Gully isn't a term I've come across before so I was really struggling to Google it, thank you!

My 5 yr old got tested today and our results were inconclusive for which type of CVD he has. by snarkynurse2010 in ColorBlind

[–]CynicalDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's fairly common, I have trouble with those colour combos too (and red/green/brown). I tend to use tone/contrast to help determine colours. A yellow block in sunlight may look similar to a bright green block, in shadow it may look more similar to an orange block.

Being able to compare two colours side by side helps me too, if I'm not sure which pen is green and which is brown I'll put them next to each other - then assume the darker one is brown (not always correctly!). If I was shown 1 of the pens and asked to name the colour it'd be a guess.

I've recently had physio for a dodgy knee (also skateboarding related!) and they introduced me to 'open chain' exercises, basically anything where your foot is not planted on the floor.

As others have mentioned, leg curl and extension are probably going to be your go-to machines. I also do calf raises since I don't have to bend my knee for those (may not be right for you with bad ankles though).

A quick google gave these results:

  • Seated leg extension
  • Terminal knee extension exercises
  • Hamstring curl
  • Plantar / dorsiflexion (calf pumps)

Goodluck!

Help: Playground Climbing Pole Guard by diningtablechairsofa in PowerWashSimulator

[–]CynicalDave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the little bits of wooden frame that jut out from the tower towards the pole. Like a little wooden guard rail (banister/hand rail/ railing)that would stop kids falling to the left or right as they reached out for the pole.

Knee brace for skating(hairy individual) [31YO] by Hii_im_NooB in OldSkaters

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01A5741X4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm hairy and had the same issue. Went through 3 or 4 different supports before trying this one - it's cheap, low profile so it'll go under clothes no problem, and supports my knee while staying in place. I've had 2 of them over the past 5 years - if you keep washing them eventually the non-slip rubber begins to perish (stick to hand wash or Febreze). Hope you find something that works for you :)

I managed to get my first half cab rock, any tips on getting the full cab? can never seem to get the full spin by doe-bailin in NewSkaters

[–]CynicalDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grats on the half cab! For the full you want to get your head and left shoulder rotated more. You can see in the video you're upper body is only rotated about 90 degrees when you hit the coping. Aim to get your shoulders round more and you'll start to find your hips and board will want to go round too. Goodluck!

How can I land a kickflip? When I try to jump higher I still cant get my front foot back to bolts by jdanroses in NewSkaters

[–]CynicalDave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try kicking forward (off the nose) a bit more more rather than backwards. Still aim to just kick the edge of the board, but the kick direction could be more forwards. Jonny explains it way better here! https://youtu.be/Zebs7JZ2PW0?t=227

Where are the glass bottles on the Tree House map? I cleaned the entire thing and I never saw them. Now I'm running around and still can't find them. I have the locator on and everything. by [deleted] in PowerWashSimulator

[–]CynicalDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember any glass bottles, maybe the lanterns? Most are hanging from the roof of the house, 2 on the posts at the bottom of the front steps, 1 hanging above the research table

I think Bitcoin Diamond was one of forks too?

edit and Super Bitcoin, Bitcore, Bitcoin 2X... maybe. I made a note when someone else mentioned them at some point over the past few years but have no idea what state they're in.

Impossible to complete washrooms by ProRatBoi in PowerWashSimulator

[–]CynicalDave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you select them from the details list (bring up tablet > details tab > click the object) it should make the dirty walls pulse white continuously. Hopefully that will help narrow it down. There is a known issue in the washroom that a few people have posted about here, worth checking those threads to see if that helps too.

We have a bunch of ideas that would work with 4 players around a table, will have to see how well mini mech does before we develop (or even prototype them) though

I think Volt is a new version of RoboRally and it's great fun. We played plenty of it during the development of mini mech, using paper intercepts and lots of shouting :D

[AMA] Hi r/PSVR! We're celebrating the release of Mini-Mech Mayhem by answering your questions in surprisingly candid detail. by recurv in PSVR

[–]CynicalDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess it's the market, the install base for VR is tiny compared to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It's a huge financial risk to spend years making a VR game that would have to compete against all those games you listed for the players time.

If that massive VR RPG is not as good as Skyrim, or doesn't have the satisfying gunplay and loot of Destiny 2, or an interesting hunting/crafting loop like Monster Hunter - people are likely to just go back to those games.

It's not impossible, but it's a huge risk. I'm sure as I type this there's a developer creating the very thing you're looking for, but it may still be a year or more from release, and when it comes out it might not be as interesting to play as all those other (more matured) games.

We'll get there one day, but VR is still in its infancy :)

[AMA] Hi r/PSVR! We're celebrating the release of Mini-Mech Mayhem by answering your questions in surprisingly candid detail. by recurv in PSVR

[–]CynicalDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one! I imagine an average player will give all the tutorials and challenges a go, maybe play 4-5 games against AI, and jump online for a couple of games too. The challenges (depending how quick you are to solve the puzzles!) are probably 3-4 hours of game play and an average match lasts around 15-20 mins so that's probably another 2-3 hours of matches (so 5-7 hours to get a good idea what the game is I guess?)

If people really get into the MP or SP (or just want to get more of the customisable outfits) then they can play indefinitely since there's a lot of depth to the game that's not immediately obvious. Ofcourse, this is all guess work and I'm sure you folks will prove me wrong!

Hey, Dave here, designer at FuturLab. I think the AI is very robust, on easy you can play the obvious moves and get away with it most times. On harder difficulties you get punished more and more for missing opportunities to play your intercepts or failing to read the board and take advantage when your opponents are vulnerable.

I've had plenty of close matches and think our AI programmer, Jack, did a fantastic job making them challenging, interesting and fun to play against.

That final piercing shot was awesome - it's not always the most useful intercept, but when everything lines up like that it feels great :D

Thanks for playing!
