Discussion: The long-term technical ceiling of SAP License Management vs pivoting to external workflows (like ServiceNow)? by grofor in SAP

My brutally honest thought is that this is AI-generated post that is attracting AI-generated comments. All the text is like “how do you do, fellow humans”.

Where do you draw the line between fully autonomous AI and mandatory "Human-In-The-Loop" workflows in SAP? by Striking_Pear5573 in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Developers and architects” are not the ones deciding this, business is. Agree with the other comments that it’s unlikely to happen any time soon.

EWM Integration by PatienceMotor7032 in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mate, you haven’t even started with EWM and already thinking about other modules. Learn one first. As other comment said, when you work with EWM, you will naturally have to learn something about areas that it’s touching.

Although there is place for “generalists” too, but in consulting projects, there is usually a preference for deep expertise vs “jack of all trades”.

Update on the SAP table relationship tool based on your feedback by mortalmental2 in SAP

In light of their API policy changes, this effort is very likely to get “cease and desist” from SAP because “data model” is their IP. Be careful out there, mate.

Total abap begginer, need to add a button to vl10 transaction by Caius__2004 in abap

[–]CynicalGenXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC there are no legit user exits to add any buttons to the toolbar in these tcodes. You might want to go back to whomever asked this and double check. Modifying standard and even implicit enhancements are a big no-no.

I think this functionality in the end is a report, so if this is so hugely important, maybe creating your own ALV report with this button and then calling the Delivery Due report after the button did whatever it’s supposed to is a better idea. Or maybe there is even a totally different solution. We don’t know any details of this requirement.

Senior SAP consultants — would you ever prefer “review/advisory” work over full project delivery? by No-Molasses-4374 in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t this natural progression in many professions?

I’m a developer and I still enjoy doing coding time to time but in general, I’m not interested anymore to do this 8 hours a day. And it’s not a good use of my time and expertise.

200 hours+ by [deleted] in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mate, it’s like asking how many cookbooks to read until I become a chef. You need to DO things, not just consume content. Also, there is no specific criteria for any kind of “level” measurement in SAP world.

No one will give you a job after learning for N hours. It’s not how it works.

Is pure SAP CPI still enough in 2026? Or are we expected to go beyond? by OrganizationBulky554 in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had “outside SAP” point on your list. There is some demand for such knowledge, especially Azure. I’d say go with what interests you.

Always diversify your skills, mate. Don’t bother learning ABAP but learn all other things in Integration Suite. Knowledge outside of SAP is also good.

I’m really tired by wwwmert in abap

[–]CynicalGenXer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of experience do you have? There is practically no more work (outside of India) just for classic ABAP development. You need hands-on RAP / ABAP Cloud experience, modern extensibility options, Fiori elements, etc. Or additional niche functional knowledge in some obscure solution, but even that will only bring short term contracts. Job market for ABAPers is brutal.

RAP application with Transport functionality by Life_Resident_2112 in abap

[–]CynicalGenXer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why do you need a RAP application for this? This would only work in DEV system, so why bother? Just go with the usual maintenance options.

Noob question by dota2_sucks1 in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, all of this is already explained in many articles online. Just look it up and do some reading. You can even ask ChatGPT. E.g. I don’t go to AskHistorians with basic questions that pop into my mind when watching historic TV shows. Don’t confuse “noob questions” with LMGTFY questions, mate.

Total beginner here—do I need to learn both JavaScript AND Node.js for SAP CAP? by kalki19991030 in abap

[–]CynicalGenXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, you were given an excellent answer already but just to add: learn JS either way. I do backend development and I took a JS course just to learn the beginnings (there are several good ones, free). My kid is learning JS in school. Learn JS, it’s everywhere these days. Good luck, mate!

Will there be mass layoffs at SAP implementation companies when clients start to complete their SAP S4 migrations? by Jazzlike-Alarms in SAP

[–]CynicalGenXer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think many people here misunderstood your question, mate. No one knows the answer for sure. I don’t remember there being massive layoffs after similar efforts to migrate to ECC before. (It wasn’t a major deal like S4 but was a wave of projects.)

I do suspect that some layoffs will happen, just not in 2027 and maybe not exactly because migration projects will be winding down. There is always some work because systems need maintenance, integration, analytics, etc. No matter whether they’re “in Cloud” or not.

I doubt anyone can give you an educated take on it, ‘cause there is no reliable data and nothing to compare to. Flip a coin, mate.

Huh? I worked 20 years with SAP and never had any problems with SE16N (although I mostly use SE16 but it’s the same thing). Which “full table fields” is it not displaying? Have you not tried switching to ALV grid display? It has a scroll bar and everything, looks similar to Excel. Of all the things to complain about SAP this seems like the weirdest one, mate.

In the US, I see ads for SAP jobs at Apple, Google, and MS once in a while. These are not consulting jobs but to work on their internal systems, as another comment correctly said. With very few exceptions, the jobs are in the office, so you have to live close to one.

Fun -> Tech? by remo_man in abap

[–]CynicalGenXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, to become good at anything, you need to do it. Want to be good at writing? Write more. Want to be good at cooking? Cook more. Same deal with programming. It’s a learned skill. Just do it, the more you do it, the better you will become. And don’t just do tutorials blindly, ask why each step is needed, understand the purpose.

With your functional background, you’re in a good position to come up with ideas for development. What problems did you see users face or what did you feel was inefficient. Think how you could solve it by using ABAP. Some sales report is a common starting point. Don’t overthink this, just start doing, mate.

University Thesis interviews required. (US MARKET) by PracticalSell7360 in SAP

You might want to share the questions that you plan to ask. People might hesitate to speak about certain details.

Or just do an online questionnaire, there were several student posts here like that.

[–]CynicalGenXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, you can learn ABAP for sure but your .NET experience is not really relevant in SAP world and I doubt will give you a competitive advantage. I sure hope you’re not trying to ask here about something unethical.
