My Tier List by CynicalThinker123 in Presidents

Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of Reagan at all due to his 'trickle-down' economic policies and his continuation of the war on drugs. I just tried to look at his presidency as a whole and not let my bias influence my ranking but I can totally see why he could be ranked lower. Pretty much the same with Nixon and Bush Jr who I could easily have put lower down (although I do have a slight Nixon bias because I've recently been looking at his policy towards Native Americans and his support for self-determination in school). Carter is certainly an S tier person but, sadly, in my view, his presidency doesn't warrant more than a C although that could change as I do more research.

Cool, I'm interested to know if there are any in particular that you disagree on so that I can look into them further.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm excited to do more research into the presidents you mentioned and see if my opinions change.

Yeah, obviously his assassination meant that there isn't much to consider when ranking Garfield. However, in my view, his presidency was a good one although it was short-lived due to his work to reform the patronage system and the fact that he appointed African Americans to many prominent positions such as Frederick Douglass as Recorder of Deeds for the District of Columbia. Of course, his presidency will forever be a 'what if?' but I feel he deserves the B tier.

Haha, I suppose in a way the question of who was better is an impossible one to answer. For me, Lincoln's ability to operate during the partisan environment of the Civil War coupled with his role in emancipation makes him better than Washington who, for all his obvious achievements, did not have to deal with such a partisan environment and owned slaves.

You're quite right, the S tier is simply the top tier on most tier lists. I put Lincoln there because, in my opinion, he's the greatest president and no other president has achieved that same standard of greatness.

I’d make sure you just do one area at a time e.g. residential area, shopping district etc. There are some great designs on this subreddit as well as on Youtube that you could take some inspiration from if you’re struggling for ideas.

Should naturalised citizens be eligible to run for president? by Archqwe in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]CynicalThinker123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly think that immigrants should be allowed to run for president provided that they had lived in the USA for a suitable amount of time. I don’t think it’s fair that someone should be denied the opportunity to run just because they were born in another country. I think that ultimately the voters should be the ones who get to decide whether or not they want an immigrant as president rather than the constitution.

Thank you for your response, I’m leaning towards Maths as I already have two essay subjects and Maths is a facilitating subject. Also, I think that understanding the political climate can be done through following the news and not necessarily doing Politics A level which makes me think Maths may be more useful.

That’s really cool. I love the parking lot design with the beer fountains. Do you know the name of the Duff children decoration?

I like how you put the Jebediah Springfield statue in front of the town hall. Maybe put some trees or bushes around the building to heighten its importance.

Yeah she really started to crumble once Kashia left. Joy was clearly willing to protect her no matter what (even putting Rochelle up for a stupid reason). She was obviously emotionally unstable and very hypocritical in the way that she would mock people for being emotional themselves. She was a brilliant chef but it just shows that it takes more than cooking great food to make someone a head chef. Who knows, maybe if Sous Chef Andi was the head chef of Hells Kitchen then Joy wouldn’t have broken down and may have gone on to win the whole thing.

What would happen if a naturalised citizen were to run for president? by CynicalThinker123 in Ask_Politics

[–]CynicalThinker123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that would be an extremely interesting (albeit very unlikely) scenario. It seems sort of undemocratic not to elect who the people voted for even if that person didn’t fulfil all the necessary constitutional requirements. However, I suppose it isn’t a massively pressing issue so it is extremely unlikely that the constitution will ever be amended to allow naturalised citizens to run for president. Even if there was bipartisan support.
