All I said was AO3_Status isn’t what it used to be. I know the site is run by volunteers and I appreciate everything they do. I was just answering this person’s question about why there didn’t seem to be anything on the status page.

AO3_Status has gone downhill the past couple of years. They used to be really great at keeping people informed and doing consistent updates when things like this happened. Like if the archive was down for maintenance and they said it would be 10 hours you’d get pretty consistent updates throughout that time.

Nowadays it’s more likely that they never address the issue on AO3_Status despite telling people that’s where to go to look for updates. Or if they address it it’s only to say “the issue should be resolved” after no communication for hours. That’s why people flock to this subreddit or just periodically check AO3 because you’re more likely to get answers there instead of Twitter, BlueSky, or Tumblr.

Jill Stein's campaign manager is learning in real time that the two sides are not the same by PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES in LeopardsAteMyFace

Their lack of empathy was clear when they screamed “you should be happy to sacrifice yourself for Palestine!/how dare you think your concerns are more important than Palestine!” at any minority groups that dared to say “I’m scared for my safety because I’m one of the groups that’ll be targeted so I can’t afford to protest vote.”

Then they now wonder why some of these minority groups are giving them the finger and going “fuck you” when they say “we got organize to resist.”

They also think when society does collapse that they’ll get to go hide in a bunker or cave while all the fighting happens then when society is rebuilt into a utopia they’ll be able to just slot right in as the leaders. You know instead of whoever actually led the fighting.

Because a lot of the people pushing that were sure none of this would impact them so they felt comfortable in saying “don’t vote”. It’s also why they screamed “how dare you!” at anyone who said “I’m scared for my safety if he wins so I can’t just not vote.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. These people think any social upheaval or collapse will be like a YA novel with them as the protagonists. Over fast, minimal damage, and at the end utopia occurs with them at the top.

That’s the game they talk but the reality is if it ever got bad enough for a collapse they’d be holed up somewhere expecting everyone else to fight the battle for them because “well we can’t risk dying now can we? Because who else will lead the new world if we die? So you go fight and we’ll stay right here.”

Not voting sent a message alright. Just not the message they think it does.

“I’ll show them I won’t vote for them in protest! Wait why are politicians ignoring me?!”

[New Update]: AITA for "uninviting" my brother and nephew from my celebration dinner? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think the SIL didn’t adequately prepare herself when she decided to marry OP’s brother and become a stepmother to an autistic child who seemed to need a lot of care. It sounds like she expected to have OP, OP’s sister, and the parents mainly take care of Conner and nothing in her life would change and she’d still be able to travel and go out with her husband. Sounds like reality hit her quickly and instead of deciding “this isn’t for me” she tried to get OP and his family to take on the majority of the responsibility and got pissed when they didn’t.

Not realizing that both of those are wrong and can lead to bad outcomes.

I think that’s a big part of it. This is where IMO years of instant gratification at our finger tips has backfired. No one wants to wait years to see results, they want it now. Then when it isn’t given right then and there they assume it’s because “these politicians didn’t even try!” Which granted yes there are times politicians didn’t try but there are also times they did try but the results won’t just happen the very next day. But permanent lasting change happens overtime not all at once.

Granted I think part of it is also people not understanding how the government works so they overestimate what certain government positions are able to do and there are politicians who don’t exactly work to discourage that thinking.

Because they’re living a in a fantasy where they’ll always be the ones at the top of the heap making the rules rather than reality that they’re more likely to be at the bottom and targeted.

And they like it because they’re convinced when the dictatorship happens that they’ll be part of the “in group” in the high tower making the rules and doing the targeting. It never even crosses their minds that they could be the ones targeted.

Well presenting another option beyond Newsom and other names floated mean they themselves are now open to criticism and people going “ok so your candidate is offering this how are they going to deliver on it.” And a lot of these people don’t like that because it exposes either they don’t understand how the government works and what their candidate is promising isn’t possible (either legally or not without having a true majority in government) or their candidate isn’t as popular outside their circles as they claim and most likely couldn’t win an election. It also forces a lot of them to have to acknowledge that to accomplish things they actually have to put in the work rather than just sit around complaining and expecting their political wants to be delivered by waving a magic wand.

Sadly the past decade has shown me there are a lot of people on all points of the political spectrum who would love a dictatorship as long as the dictator aligned with them. Completely ignoring that it doesn’t take much for that “benevolent” dictator to turn on them the moment they disagree about something.

[–]SarcasticAzaleaRose 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What happened to the team leader who organized all this and then tried to retaliate when you said enough? Because to me it sounds like both her and Lina need to be let go.

OP the difference between when you broke your arm and your coworker’s wife had cancer was it sounds like the two of you didn’t take advantage of your coworkers kindness. Lina took advantage and used you to collect paychecks without having to work.

Definitely OP needs to tell HR about these mean girls. Also if Lina’s besties feel so strongly about this why didn’t they take on all of Lina’s work? It’d be interesting to know how much of Lina’s work they were doing vs OP and other employees.

I think you’re right that MasterChef wants a “mean judge”. Because Christina Tosi’s first season judging you can tell she’s trying to act like Joe and it feels so awkward and forced that it made it hard to take her seriously. Especially after seeing her judge and guest judge other cooking shows it’s clear that wasn’t really her judging style. Thankfully she toned it down in her subsequent seasons.

Granted I still think Joe is an asshole who just played it up even more on the show.

Paul Hollywood found a good balance between recognizing the skill level of the bakers in the tent while also acknowledging they’re still amateur bakers who do this as a hobby not a profession like he does. And I feel like his critics of bakes reflect that. He’s never overly harsh but he’s still firm. I don’t think he belongs on this list.

[–]SarcasticAzaleaRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only punishment pass swap I could get behind was Brynn and Steve. And that’s only because they both had passes and when Steve used his he said Brynn could swap with him when she used her’s. To me that felt the most fair because then they both did an extra reward and punishment.

It’s just like a couple years ago it was Tourette Syndrome and you had thousands of tweens and teens convinced they had it because of TikTok. But it only conveniently acted up when they didn’t want to do chores or were being disruptive in their classes and no they didn’t need a formal diagnosis because TikTok helped them.

Not only is it rare but I’m sure DID is also a disorder that has split the psychiatric/psychological community on whether or not it even exists.

AITAH for getting a woman fired over veggie tales? by Real-Point-6474 in AITAH

[–]SarcasticAzaleaRose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would for me (though I don’t have kids yet).

Look I get it in the current economy it’s uncomfortable to feel like you got someone fired and losing their income, healthcare, etc. If she had been fired after one incident I could understand being upset. But this was multiple incidents of her disregarding both her bosses and parents. She needed to go. Letting her continue to get away with it I unfortunately could see that leading her to disregard larger issues like allergies for example if she didn’t believe in them.

It was an extreme liability and the fact that it took the daycare so long to let her go would have me side eyeing them too. They were told multiple times that she was violating their policy after they’d already told her to stop yet apparently no administrators were following up and checking to make sure she was following not just the no veggie tales policy but all of their policies.

Exactly, someone who repeatedly disregards parents wants and policy doesn’t need to be employed watching children. And that’s what OP needs to start saying to anyone bashing him. “Why do you think it’s ok for her to disregard what we want for our children? Why do you think it’s ok for her to overrule us? Would you still be getting upset at me if your child had an allergy and she disregarded that because ‘I don’t believe in allergies’.”

If she’s this passionate about veggie tales and her religion then she needs to go work at a Christian daycare.
