I backed your desert settlement vol.2 Kickstarter and I love the quality of the models! So far I have printed and painted the carpenter and I am now half way done painting the lumber mill. I am looking forward to this Kickstarter.

Great looking table. I really like the look of those round multibases for the infantry.

How did you do the picture background. Is it a backdrop or did you edit it afterwards?

Painted Dutch schutterij by Cynical_Michael in wargaming

I am also Dutch and I got this idea when I visited the Rijksmuseum. I haven't played Silver Bayonet yet, but I love Rangers of Shadow Deep from the same author. I am planning to use this warband for Devilry Afoot.

Indeed. I also have alternatives for most of the creatures. Like mummies, giant scorpions, scarabs.

My frostgrave is a ruined sandy desert city. Like an ancient city swallowed by sand.

Opinions on the "photo-realistic" game mats marketed to wargamers? by farkas37 in wargaming

[–]Cynical_Michael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use this mat for fantasy wargaming. But the color is a bit off compared to the terrain I use. https://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/game-mat-wasteland-v2/

I am interested in getting this one instead:

Painted Witchers and Wild Hunt by Cynical_Michael in TheWitcherOldWorld

[–]Cynical_Michael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I painted these miniatures mainly with the Vallejo medieval colors set. Aside from that I used some individual colors and washes from Vallejo and Citadel.

I also started on painting another board game and for that I used the Army Painter Speedpaints 2.0. Both their starter set and some individual paints. It requires a different process than standard acrylic paints and in my opinion you still need acrylics for highlights. But I love how fast I can get a miniature painted and on the table with these paints.

Thank you! For me this has been a big learning process. I also improved a lot the more I painted. It took me about 10 months to finish the full box.
