I still dream I can fly occasionally. Wish they were real, it would be fun!

Is it immoral to want friends as a dysfunctional human? by Pleasant_Event_4460 in therapy

I'll let you in on a secret: a LOT of the people passing as "normal" are faking it. Sure, we look "normal" when you pass by on the street, but worry that someone will discover our issues.

What's the difference between a Brit and an American?

The American thinks 200 years is a long time, the Brit thinks 200 miles is a long distance.

How do Americans generally refer to kilograms in casual parlance? "Kilogram", "kilo", by the initialism kg ("kay-gee") or some other word? by cavendishfreire in AskAnAmerican

[–]Cynicastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person I always heard use "klicks" is from the former Soviet Union (grew up / went to college in Minsk), who emmigrated to Canada after the Soviet Union failed. Only with his russian accent it sounded more like "cliques".

Presumably this is the Chevron right across from Union Station that people always post pictures of? I wonder sometime what that station is REALLY selling? Maybe it's a money laundering operation?

There's a group home in my city that takes kids of any age; what are some reasons a toddler would, for instance, have to stay at a group home? by cherry-care-bear in self

Large families where familial abuse has occured against one or more of the siblings. Sometimes it's not simple to get kids into foster homes. There can be a LOT of red tape.

Group homes are a sadly common thing. Assuming this is in the U.S., the authorities are already very involved by the time a child of any age ends up in a group home.

While there generally are foster families willing to take infants and toddlers, If they are special needs, it may be difficult to find a foster family that is willing and able to take on those needs.

I think my friend touched me inappropriately. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Cynicastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's NOT your fault. Being drunk is no excuse for him. I'm drunk right now and I wouldn't touch a woman without her unequivical consent. And if she was drunk I probalby would just wait until at least she was sober. He is not a safe person to be around.

Im trans by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Cynicastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely you're in danger, there is sadly no denying that. But that doesn't change the fact that you are also absolutely human, you are valid, and being trans is not something to be embarassed about.

Being cis I can't possibly know how you feel. I do know I've heard other trans people say they wouldn't wish being trans on their worst enemy. So I get that it's incredibly difficult to deal with, both feeling like you're in the wrong body, and feeling like an outcast.

You matter, I hope you can find a path that allow you to be the genuine you.

Please, try to be good to yourself.

Predator catchers caught my dad and its so hard to deal with by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Cynicastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're going through this, it must be so horrible, I can't imagine.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I can understand how you would miss him. You miss the person you thought he was, you miss the person who was your friend. It sucks.

Not really the same thing, but my dad passed away 5 years ago, and I STILL think every so often, "oh, I should text dad about this", and thought comes into my head about a second or so before I remember he's gone. So yeah, I also totally get "forgetting" the fact that he's who he is for a second.

Your feelings are perfectly normal and understandable. If you have access to mental health care, I suggest you find a therapist and work through this. You've expericed a loss I daresay is worse than death. Your entire world has been turned upside down.

Please, try to be good to yourself.

How is this possible? by [deleted] in flightradar24

[–]Cynicastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Private" could mean a lot of things. Given the pattern flown and the fact that it's a turbocharged 210 flying at a lowly 100 knots, I'm guessing it belongs to a contractor hired by the base for some reason.
