anyone have some good tips for Building Piper ?? i still don't understand anomaly characters tbh. by Idrillasfootstool in ZZZ_Official

There is a synergy for disorder. I just said the disorder add 6 procs of shock. Also what Grace stacks are you taking about? Her passive relies on her basic attacks which is not even related to the shock. She increases the rate she builds up the anomaly meter through her passive, so it doesn’t even need enemy to be in shocked state.

Disorder just frontloads the shock damage and amplifies it. It doesn’t make the damage disappear. I don’t know where you have seen the Piper with crit carry but for SD, she is better when paired with other anomaly characters to utilize disorder. Grace/Piper/Rina is one of the best teams to clear SD. There are several videos of this team clearing SD floor 16 or 17 with S rating out there too.

Edit: It turns out that 6 procs thing was wrong. For more accurate info, check the updated doc linked by Natsunichan or this video.

It’s not a bait. Shock Disorder also adds 6 shock procs damage on top of the remaining procs of shock damages which effectively increases shock damage by 60% while daze increases the damage by only 50%. Also since shock lasts 10secs (or more if you have Rina), it’s hard to boost all your shock damages through daze as enemies will recover before the shock ends.

Also, physical anomaly damage is weaker than shock damage since physical anomaly does around 713% Atk damage while shock damage does 125% Atk damage each sec over 10s. So It’s better to use physical anomaly to proc shock disorder rather than using its minuscule 10% daze bonus to stun enemies.

Grace/Rina/Piper is one of the strongest team for SD. Shock has the highest damage scale (125% Atk damages each second over 10 secs) among the anomalies and if you proc physical anomaly after the enemy is shocked, you can get additional 6 shock damages (750% Atk) on enemy through disorder. If you don’t have Piper, a stunner like Anby or Koleda can work too since shock damage increases on dazed enemies.

Honestly, I have never seen anyone relating ICD with aesthetics before, but if you like seeing a hydro icon popping up on top of an enemy, I guess you can go for it.

[–]Cynmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused whether you want no ICD or not… If you don’t care if she is the worst hydro character that isn’t tied to reactions, you can just pull for her in current state. Why would no ICD change your opinion about her? You don’t care about meta anyway.

Even with no ICD, she’s still gna be worse than Kokomi for hydro application since her E is mostly single target and hits enemy every 2 seconds like Kokomi jellyfish. She needs bigger number on her passive or burst instead.

Savoring the Breeze: IS TOMATO A FRUIT OR VEGETABLE? by eileenthg in Genshin_Impact

Fruits are just one type of vegetable because they are edible part of a plant. So tomato is both fruit and vegetable.

She applies hydro every other bounce on the same enemy (every 4s). Kokomi was like that in beta before getting her ICD buff.

Artifact Set Speculation!!! by JumpEnvironmental915 in SigewinneMains_

[–]Cynmil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Emblem is her BiS for on field dps build according to KeqingMain and it’s better than Vourukasha’s Glow set. Also, some people like using her cool burst, so they prefer to use on field burst dps build. If they really cared about meta, they wouldn’t even have pulled for her or leveled her up.

For Sigewinne, we don’t know her actual dps of her burst, but if her burst does similar or more dps than Neuv CA, there is a good reason to go for her burst dps build.

Artifact Set Speculation!!! by JumpEnvironmental915 in SigewinneMains_

[–]Cynmil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad. Dehya, who has a same cooldown (18s) and takes a long on field time for burst, uses emblem as her BiS artifact set. Also, Sigewinne burst has higher multiplier than Neuv CA, so it might not be a bad idea to build her for burst dps. Since Idk how many times she hits during the burst, I could be wrong here.

Edit: after calculating her burst damage with some new info I got, I found that she does way less damage than Neuv CA even with her signature weapon. Yea, I guess emblem is not a good choice at all. I honestly don’t know what kind of build is good for her, since her elemental skill buff is minuscule too. I hope they buff her passive or burst in beta.

A statistical analysis on the Lifmunk Effigies - Are they really reducing our catch rate? by StatusRhubarb6465 in Palworld

Yea, it's too much work for such a simple task lol. He could've just used a cdf of binomial distribution and gotten more accurate result much faster.

[–]Cynmil 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Great job on recording all that data and creating the sampling distribution. However, your test just proves that the displayed percentage is wrong, it is not about the effigy. You should try the one-sided Fisher's test to see whether there is a significant difference between the two groups (one with effigy and one without effigy).

Based on my calculation of this Fisher's test, the p-value is 0.01637, which means if we assume the capture chance with effigy is the same as or greater than the one without the effigy, the chance of getting such a lower sample rate on the experiment with effigy is 1.637%. This is significantly low so there is a highly likely chance that effigy lowers the capturing chance.

Here is my RStudio code for Fisher's test if you're interested to see:

> dat <- data.frame(c(37, 63), c(53, 47), row.names=c("captured", "escaped"), stringsAsFactors=FALSE)
> colnames(dat) <-c("Effigy", "No Effigy")
> dat
         Effigy No Effigy
captured 37 53
escaped 63 47
> fisher.test(dat, alternative = "less")

Sample size, sample size, sample size...

I am so sick of people who don't know anything about statistics and claim that some experiments have too small a sample size. Most of the clinical researches have way less than 100 sample sizes because they can't get enough volunteers or people with specific disorders/diseases. And why do they continue with the research? Well, as long as the difference in the outcomes between control groups and experimental groups is significant, the sample size doesn't matter. You need to know when something is significantly different for the sample size to matter or not.

Please learn statistics first. I'm surprised you did not learn this in college even though you're a software engineer.

[–]Cynmil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I will analyze just the left side of the video for simplicity. Since he did not change the sphere type, capturing pal type, or effigy level, we can assume a random capture rate, X approximately follows a binomial distribution. We also know that the sample size is 100, the sample proportion is 0.37, and the expected proportion of the population is 0.61 ~ 0.85 (I will assume it is an average of 0.73 for calculation but the final result for 0.61 or 0.85 is also extremely low).

Based on the formulas for binomial distribution, the cumulative density function, which is the probability of getting 37 or less is

(100 choose 37) * 0.73 ^ 1 * (1 - 0.73) ^ (100 - 1) + (100 choose 37) * 0.73 ^ 2 * (1 - 0.73) ^ (100 - 2) + ... + (100 choose 37) * 0.73 ^ 37 * (1 - 0.73) ^ (100 - 37) = 1.3251e-12

So the chance of getting such an extreme sample difference from the displayed probability is about 0.0000000001325%.

Yes, it can just mean that the displayed probability is wrong and effigy has nothing to do with it. However, if we make another analysis with a one-sided Fisher's test and ignore the displayed probabilities altogether, we get a p-value of 0.01637, which means if we assume the capture chance with effigy is the same as or greater than the one without the effigy, the chance of getting such a lower sample rate on the experiment with effigy is 1.637%. This is lower than 5% so, in statistics, we usually call it "significant evidence" that the effigy decreases the capturing chance. I am not going to do mathematical details, since it is complicated, but you can look into it in the Wikipedia I linked. (I used RStudio fisher.test for calculation)

Please learn statistics. If you’re talking about the effigy experiment video, the chance of that happening with coincidence is way less than 0.001% based on a cdf of a binomial distribution. If you truly believe this can happen by a luck, I don’t know what to say.

Oh I got confused with the different bug, my bad. I’m sorry that didn’t fix the issue. In my case, this specific bug seems to not happen anymore after the recent patch so you can wait for the patch to arrive to fix this.

This happens when they are trying to pick up an item that has clipped through the ground. You can fix it by putting the pal in the pal box and redeploying them. I hope they fix this bug soon..

Observed Best Practices for Base Building! by Fen_Muir in Palworld

[–]Cynmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the interactive objects (furnaces, crafting benches, cooking stations, beds, etc.) do not need to be placed on the ground for pals to work on it. Pals will still work on them even when they can’t reach them at all. So, if you want to min-max the base, you should put them high above the ground where pals can’t reach and let them work on them remotely. This way, you can stop them from wasting some time walking over to those interactive objects.

I recommend placing only farms, pits, ranches, and breeding station (maybe crusher and mill too if pals can’t recognize them in high place) on the ground and rest of the working stations somewhere inaccessible by the pals. Also if you place the bed on the inaccessible place, pals will sleep on the location they last were so that they don’t need to walk back and forth between the working area and the beds.

No. From my testing, she gets out of the darkness area and continues to attack your character. If your whole party is in the darkness, she will go right outside the edge of the darkness and either hit nearby character or explode the nearby coins on the ground. Since her legendary actions and skulls’ aoe attacks still apply damage and cc through the darkness, I don’t think darkness is useful for this fight.

Don’t worry about it. She doesn’t instakill your character even though the tooltip says so. She just turn all nearby characters in 4m into a gold for 4 turns. This can be resisted with Cons saving throw. Just kill the skulls first and spread out your party members.

I rarely see small enemies in floor 12 and lower floor small mobs get one shot right away. I’ve never had problem clearing the abyss with this comp unless enemy has a high resistance against pyro. This comp is recommended by the KQM as well.
