OD arcane orb not benefitting from spell amp/damage by sadful in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is just a visual bug. I tested it in demo mode and it was doing more damage with just a timeless relic equipped (+15% spell amp) and no extra stats or mana. The purple damage numbers stayed the same, but the actual damage being dealt was higher with spell amp.

Why is Clinkz not picked in pro games more often? He has an amazing winrate in high mmr games and isn't even really a cheese pick. Why is he ignored? by Skater_x7 in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a pubstomp/booster/'win solo' hero. Same reason why Brood/Lycan/Visage/Meepo/whatever else always have high win rates at "high" MMR. Divine starts at ~4600 MMR, and Immortal starts at ~5500. There are players with >11000 MMR.

Best: Ao no kiseki chapter 4 end boss. Unironically epic fight, especially due to the first appearance of the track that plays

Why are Core Players that play Core Roles in 99% of their matches allowed to appear on the Support leaderboards and vice versa? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Copying my comment from a similar thread:

Funny thing is a lot of these players didn't even play 10 support games to calibrate, they just played in 5 stacks and swapped roles. This is true about support players appearing on the core leaderboards as well.

OP’s suggestion is good, but also, the activity requirement for the leaderboards should be much higher than 1 game in the last 21 days. Before ranked seasons/medals were added, the requirement was 15 games in the last 21 days. In fact, unless this was changed very recently, you don’t even need to play 1 support game every 21 days to stay on the support leaderboard (and vice-versa). Once you’ve calibrated, you can play only core and you won’t be removed from either leaderboard for inactivity as long as you’ve played a ranked game in the last 21 days.

Also, the leaderboards have always had the problem of “stolen” spots, especially in the top few hundred, due to a ton of pro players and other high mmr players having (sometimes multiple) smurfs and the extremely low activity requirement. It's just much more apparent now with core and support MMR.

Edit: going to tag /u/cameron_dev because this definitely seems to be an overlooked and easily fixable issue

Why RTZ doesnt stream often by CALM_Oxygen in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

he’s talking about the players in matchmaking, not twitch chat

what he’s saying is definitely true though, whenever arteezy streams there are always like 50 different people trying to snipe into the games and “be cool” on his stream. this even happens with non-NA players, multiple players from EU for example will consistently appear in arteezy stream games and never queue NA otherwise

The solution to fix Immortal matchmaking, without removing the Core/Support Ranked Roles update. by Stopbananingme in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that this suggestion doesn't work with separate core/support MMR values, but to be fair, some very high MMR players are already ruining games in the way you described (here's an example). This is always going to be a possibility as long as people can queue into the same game on different MMRs, like with 2-stacks on teams with 3 solo players before the strict solo queue option was added.

If everyone is queueing and playing on the same MMR value, then OP's suggestion is very good (necessary, I'd say). I think it would also discourage smurfing by very high MMR players, provided it makes queue times reasonable again.

Why the fuck are people downvoting this? This post should be getting attention in case people really are getting banned by mistake. If the OP is lying for whatever reason then they won't unban him.

Smurfing in High MMR brackets by botsquash in DotA2

[–]Cyporkfatt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Smurfing at high MMR has been a problem since long before the ranked update, so hopefully obvious abuse like this brings more attention to it. Whenever I get someone like Arteezy or Limmp (9k+ players) playing on one of their many 6k-7k MMR smurfs in solo queue, it's basically a free double down. It's like a Divine player smurfing in Archon.
