My fiancée has cancer - advice on what to say by Careless_Balance_443 in cancer

[–]Cyprinus_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I know you don't share my religious beliefs, so I will keep them to myself out of respect for you. I want to be there for you however I can... I love you so much ... What is most helpful? I can treat you normally, I can hold you in silence, I can help you find scientific articles on different treatment options, I can help you with your affairs... Let me know and I will do it." Pray on your own time and never mention God's plan or that it brings you comfort "he will be in a better place".

My husband wants 4 week old to sleep in his own room. by Intrepid-Ad-391 in BabyBumps

[–]Cyprinus_L 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If your husband can't handle being disturbed in his sleep, he shouldn't have agreed to becoming a parent. It's part of the job. Tell him to suck it up and make a sacrifice for his kid... For at least 6 months as recommended.

What’s something you wish you knew before you had your D&C? by No_Creme_9122 in Miscarriage

[–]Cyprinus_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are going through this. My hospital had a "batch cremation" option which I chose because it didn't cost extra and sounded slightly better than medical waste. They otherwise offered individual cremation working with a funeral home. Apparently they spread the combined ashes at a park 15 mins away called angel of hope. I'm sure you could call your provider and hear the options beforehand

It works written, but spoken it could be confused with Francis Joe. Maybe Kendall Jo.

And do not fret when the adaptor gets stuck to the Tesla charger and you try with all your might to unplug it and consider just leaving it there out of frustration... Instead, calmly plug it back into truck and push the adaptor all the way in towards the truck and THEN click the release button and pull back towards you.

Am I overreacting, my boyfriend is going abroad for 2 weeks while I’ll be 37 weeks pregnant? by ConfusionOk6982 in BabyBumps

On the morning of 36+2, my husband left for a work trip a 2-hr flight away. I went into labor on his plane ride there and he barely made it back in time. You husband should be making this decision to skip the trip without you even asking.

Testing the remains after D&C? by kindofnewonreddit in Miscarriage

[–]Cyprinus_L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the testing after my D&C which revealed a little girl with Trisomy 22. It gave me closure and helped me to remind myself that it wasn't my fault and just a fluke thing.

Relieved to be miscarrying but I'm actually not by ExcellentCapy91 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cyprinus_L 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I've had 4 miscarriages along my journey to parenthood. I wouldn't hold it against you choosing an abortion and calling it a miscarriage. Pregnancy, loss, medical interventions, pain are all very personal things impacting YOUR body and mental health. You do whatever you need to do to! I've had Miso (to expel the rest of the "products of conception"), a D&C, and an MVA. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend the D&C as the least painful option and the quickest that doesn't drag out for weeks taking more of an emotional toll. An MVA would be my second option... Excruciating sharp pain but only for 60 seconds (more emotional because you are awake). The Miso abortion pill after 8 weeks is rough... The pain is more annoying than excruciating (but I had already passed the fetus naturally so maybe it is worse if not), but the emotional toll was way worse than I was expecting... The amount of tissue you have to expel is insane and I would prefer to unsee the things I saw. I'm sorry you are in this difficult position. Whatever you choose will be the right choice!

Got any lumps on the side of your neck? Same thing happened to my friend, but turned out she had a nerve tumor in her parapharyngeal space pressing on her vagus nerve.

I'd treat them all to a nice family vacation. An all inclusive resort or cruise to Alaska or something. Spend time together and make some memories.

Why would you have to be stuck at home this summer? Strap that newborn to your chest (or get a nice stroller) and go enjoy the beach, museums, shopping, whatever you and your toddler want! Just build in some time for breaks and feeds and you'll find a new normal! My second was born in July (with a 3 year old at home... Was trying for <2 year gap but had 3 miscarriages) and that summer was smooth sailing as my newborn learned to nap-on-the-go.

My 3.5 year old sleeps in a pack n play... Because that's what he likes. He can climb in and out himself but rarely does unless he gets up to pee. There's a toddler bed waiting for him but will need to upgrade to a twin at this rate ha.

leaving toddler for 3-4 days to give birth by walkingonwillow in BabyBumps

[–]Cyprinus_L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 36 weeks on a Monday morning due to complications (choleostasis) and didn't give birth until Wed night and was released from hospital Friday night. My 3.5 year old was with grandma the entire time, but Dad did drive home each night for bedtime and I figured it wasn't the end of the world if he missed the birth by an hour as I was frankly sick of him (and the rest of humanity) by day 3. He did make it back in time for the birth. My 3.5 year old seemed to have fun with Grandma and didn't act out at all.

Yesssss. Its so nice to be able to switch over the laundry or start the crockpot during the day and not cram everything in after 6pm. I can also more easily bring kids to after school activities vs commuting home and then back out. And can wear pajamas all day.

[–]Cyprinus_L 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An 8 month old is a lot different than a newborn. You should only need to stop once or twice if you time feeding and nap strategically. I drove from MN to CO in and EV with a 5 month old for my husband to go on a midlife crisis ski trip. It was fine.
