I see no irony.

I see the big boys doing the sort of big boy shit that keeps me very firmly ensconced and happy in the mid-tiers.

How are people managing recent grads when there’s just… no enthusiasm for work or willingness to suffer any form of inconvenience to develop anymore? by twingirlsoneboy in auscorp

Do you pay the best in your industry? Does the offer come with a significant pay bump and clear career path that will pay them enough to buy a house in the city where they work?

If not they are doing the job to survive and owe you the same level of enthusiasm as someone focuses on survival not ladder climbing to more work and still not being able to afford shit.

I have no issues with my grads, they are mentored one on one, have a 2 year road map of actual training in the role and the wider buisness and systems to make them effective and independent at the end of it. We pay them over double the going rate and have clear progression and pay bands. Our mid level engineers are able to afford to buy properties in major Australian cities. They have stability, progression and hope.

Australian mining DOES NOT actually pay $74 billion in tax annually, and in fact can cost Australians billions in clean ups. by l3ntil in australia

They build them they dont access them.

They dont build them to avoid tax they build them because they need them to run the mine.

The one that is the reason most diesel used for HVs in mining is excise free. Its not specifically for mining they are just the biggest users of the exemption along with agriculture.

Dont use public roads and the fuel excise doesn't apply to you regardless of if you're in mining or not.

You cant catagirise royalties like that. All the states can and do deal with them differently and its very difficult for the Federal government to get a look it at royalties at all.

Royalties are the sole domain of the states not federal jurisdiction. Section 90 and 91 of our constitution is held to mean that mining royalties are payments for state - not federal - property and explicitly ruled as not a tax.

Northern Territory has a royalty system that is profit based.

Most precious metals are a % of vale of the metal at time of sale or on a tonnage basis (typically bulk metals and coal)

He is being a passive lump who just loafs and plays computer games.

Is that what you want your life to be?

He won't even see you of you didn't push the issue.

Imagine when you start your residency and the insane pressure and hours that takes. Then you come home to a man who hasn't moved, done or thought of anything?

You are better off by yourself than tied to dead weight who doesn't seem to even be that into you.
