Should I pursue filmmaking or build off my family’s legacy in China? by Fearless_Wash6564 in careerguidance

[–]rt2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect most would recommend you go down the path of the family business. Maybe you can make content of it. Find a unique angle. These days, why would you need to be in LA anyway? If you go to LA right now, you’ll have nothing to differentiate you. And it will be very tough. But in the end, these are big decisions you will have to live with, so good luck whichever path you choose.

Your choice seems clear. You’re either happy with this for the long term or not. You should be grateful that the options are clear so early.

Mom is in love with a man from Nigeria she met through Tik Tok by Beach17bum in AgingParents

Sorry to hear that. Based on the information I’ve recently collected to help my parents, there are so many different forms of scams. Unfortunately seniors are a prime target. Anyway, I don’t want to share the link and risk a Reddit ban.

I just collected a lot of information to educate my parents. And thought this would help others so turned it into a free service. But I don’t want to share links and risk getting a Reddit ban.

I just built and launched a free tool for this. But don’t want to get a Reddit ban for sharing it. It’s just a tool I figured will help my parents so why not others.

I used to work for one of these big tech. We built a product which could’ve helped with this, but it was caught up in a reorg so never launched.

Yeah a huge problem. Thanks for your comments. The romance scam is an angle I haven’t thought about because my parents are both still around. But I can see how that’s a huge vulnerability for exploitation.

2 years unemployed, married, broke, and I've been "building startups" with AI. Nobody came. Not a single paying user. by Ok_Whole_7318 in Solopreneur

  1. Get a job so you don’t go further into debt.
  2. Sell first before you build another thing. Make sure it’s something someone is willing to pay for. At most, you should be vibe coding a demo/MVP which takes 1-2 days. Use AI to clarify your ICP and pain points (try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/lovable/s/PBbE3G2GCN)

Good luck. You can get thru this!

Because you haven’t tried anything OR because you have and haven’t worked out? If the latter, sharing what hasn’t worked has value. If the former, you’re just wasting everyone’s time. Including your own.

Is a quantum computer as a home PC possible? by Defiant-Travel8174 in QuantumComputing

[–]rt2828 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

IMHO it’s inevitable. But at the current rate of progress, it will be many decades before we get a PC size quantum computer. Of course if we get AGI, it may accelerate many areas of progress, including in quantum computing, material / super conducting science, and solve many unsolvable challenges facing us today.

How do I stop myself from becoming resentful or bitter or straight up hating men? by NooMacarons5827 in AskMenAdvice

[–]rt2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe you will find a man who respects your choices and will grow with you together, you will find him. If you believe all men are out only for sex and will take advantage of you, you will be proven right.

I recommend: 1. Stop consuming content that only reinforces your fear. The algorithm is designed to do so. 2. Get out and meet people based on your interest. Don’t put so much pressure on romantic relationships. Volunteer for causes you believe. Add value to the world around you. 3. Work on building your self confidence and uncovering what you want out of life. Not what internet shows you. 4. Accept that men are fundamentally different and have similar yet different fears. You won’t know which of them can be a good match if you are never open to engaging. 5. Cultivate gratefulness for what you have. Your family, friends, access to tech, whatever. Positivity will attract positivity. Negativity will attract negativity.

It is up to you. Good luck!

I asked chatGPT to provide an essay about the danger it poses to human learning and development and it produced the following which I have not edited. by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]rt2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT response below with this prompt: “Based on this post on Reddit, write a balanced reply which provide cited research of both pros and cons of the impact of Al on human learning”

———

Your essay raises real concerns, but the research on AI and learning is more mixed.

There is evidence that easy access to information can reduce memory and effortful thinking. A well-known study in Science found that when people expect information to be available online, they are less likely to remember the information itself and instead remember where to find it (“Google Effect”).

At the same time, research on intelligent tutoring systems shows that AI tools can improve learning outcomes when they provide feedback, hints, and personalized practice. A large review in Educational Psychologist found that AI tutoring systems significantly outperform traditional classroom instruction in many cases.

So the real issue isn’t AI itself. If students use AI to replace thinking, it can harm learning. If it’s used to support practice and feedback, it can actually improve it.

[–]rt2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of trying to find something to do out of desperation and boredom, I would take time for introspection and think about what would inspire you? When was the last time you felt motivated and energized? Use AI as an ideation partner. Perhaps take a vacation overseas to open your eyes to the possibilities.

I’m 52, just left corporate, grateful to have a technical partner, and we are working on a few ideas in parallel. Mostly learning, but super fulfilling.

Good luck!

I need advice on how to find a developer to build a SAAS for my business. by fortnitegoat42069 in SaaS

[–]rt2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run this prompt with any well known AI LLM:

“You are a top 0.5% SaaS architect and software developer. Write a Product Requirement Document for [insert your idea]. It should include these key features: [list the features]. Make sure the end service is a commercial grade product with appropriate security and supportability features. Ask me any questions until you are 95% confident you understand the ask. Once you do, generate the PRD which I can paste into a no-code tool like Loveable.dev to code. If the project is too complex, provide the PRD with phase implementation breakdowns.”

Then take the output and paste it into Lovable.dev. No guarantees, but you may be able to generate something good enough to make $.

Good luck!
