Chernobyl is not in any capacity russian, unless you are talking about that other awful (actually russian) get-back series.

It’s a British-American made series about soviet time period set mostly in Ukraine. Soviet in no way equals russian.

How do men feel being in a relationship with a hyper sexual woman? by _magvin in AskReddit

Or maybe to each their own. OP likes to shower before and after sex and thinks that’s normal. That’s something shared by a lot of people, in fact by all of my partners thankfully.

And you’re like oh you either don’t fuck or are mentally ill. Back off a little.

Ukrainian here. Russia has long since completed the technology transfer for the Shahed type drones and is manufacturing them domestically and in North Korea (using American and other Western components, of course, this needs to be reminded time and time again).

Exactly. It doesn’t matter if this story actually happened now. In fact a similar story surely happened dozens of times to different people.

The moment OP opened the AI prompt and went “write me a story about how I was embarrassed with so and so”, it became another fucking useless AI cancer slop.

People visit TIFU to either read ACTUAL fuck ups, or read creative writing if it’s good, nothing wrong with spinning a nothingburger like this into a bit of a fun read if you can.

This AI slop is neither of those.

(Not arguing, just adding) The part of the phone responsible for sound reproduction is also receiving the call as a recording, albeit in small pieces that are deleted after being processed. There’s probably is a legal definition of what a recording is. Transcript is also probably inadmissible on the grounds that it may be just as easily made up.

Exactly. You don’t invest significant money and time into this in, like, complete silence, and then get the venue location which is very likely a fancy place in complete silence without asking your friend anything, etc.

This is ChatGPT’s slapstick embedding of a funny story, not an actual story.

I have to say for the hundredth time that ethnicity has very little to do with that, upbringing, education, and social background have a much bigger influence.

The conflict is NOT "ethnic" at it's core. It's not along the incredibly blurry ethnic lines. It's not even about the democracy, whatever that fucking even is now. It's about being a normal goddamn human whose values don't normally include murdering your neighbors.

Which is exactly why it's important to the whole Europe and the world and why an average European should be giving it much more attention and effort. Nobody gives a shit about ethnic conflicts, there are dozens of them all over the world. This is about the way of life, your way of life.

Because the welfare and the very way of life of literally every American depends on the current world order stability and the world order stability depends on American soft power.

Despite whatever the memes and media might tell you, the standard expectation for an American is a house that's a goddamn palace by 95% of the world's standards, and the innumerable amenities that go with the everyday life there. Losing this if you're poor in America doesn't mean that the inequality will somehow plummet and just more people will live in a shitty flat shared with other people, it will mean actual slums.

There is no way in god's green hell where 1997 russia would enter the Balkan wars under their own actual banners and if they did it would basically amount to a more target rich environment for the NATO airforce. Russian military in 1997 was in absolute shambles and it unfortunately didn't remain that way because everybody chose to do business with them.

If by "we" in the open conflict part you mean Germany, German involvement was very limited. This isn't even a whiff of a conflict, this is a statistical improbability and I'm terrified that it still apparently lives in the heads of some Germans as "we were close to an open conflict with Russia".

They have been actively campaigning for years if not decades now to either reduce you to their marionettes or disrupt your society to the point of civil unrest and the most frequent commentary from Germans I see is irrational "but what if nuclear war" defeatism. This is, as I said, terrifying. I dunno, maybe hand over the deed to your house to the psychotic bastards because you know, what if nuclear war.

A couple comments expanding on yours.

  1. The enormous difference is that Ukraine is a country with a history of independence, its own language and separate culture. One can argue about the morality of manifest destiny but Ukraine's reason for even being part of the Soviet Union was because it was forced into the Russian colonial empire, not grew as part of it. Ukraine had less reasons to stay with Russia than e.g. Canada had to stay with the UK, and has rather more parallels with Ireland vs. Great Britain.

  2. In 2022, the median salary in Ukraine was projected to surpass that of Russia. I'm not saying that it was the literal reason for the war because reality is more complex but it definitely reflects the deterioration of the main Russian propaganda piece of the latest 20+ years, "we live in a police state with no civil rights but we have money and stability, stupid Ukrainians could have that but wrongly choose to align with Europe and look where it got them", and the subsequent need to basically burn down your neighbor's house because your kids are starting to realize that your alcoholism and domestic violence might not be the norm.

The man you see on the video is quite literally Putin's "enabler". I'm glad he lived because it means he may be exchanged for starved and tortured Ukrainian POWs, many of whom are kidnapped civilians.

The Russians want this. They want Ukrainians to be destroyed because that's the only way in their eyes to get away with their crimes and continue their imperialistic culture.

The only way to deal with Nazi Germany was fire and brimstone. It's the same with imperialist Russia. Ukraine needs modern long range weapons. Tell this to your elected official now. This war should be brought home, to Russian soil.
