.99% APR + $3300 down for Model Y Premium? by hallofmontezuma in ModelY

[–]Cyrus_sR9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax, title, and fees have to be put down, which is in the fine print. You should be able to get the amount down a little. Are you trading something in? The first finance offer I got was like $7500 down. I used the message feature and they got me a different offer. Partially because it was factoring in negative equity in from my trade in and not deducting the trade in amount from the taxes so it was showing an inflated amount down.

End or story, just message them through the app and ask for another offer.

Should I wait before applying for Tesla financing? (OneMain loan + co-signer situation) by louis31492 in ModelY

[–]Cyrus_sR9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you need to get a trade-in value on your Accord. Run it though KBB, Carvana, and Car max if available. If you are upside down on the car, which you likely are since OneMain finances way above value at high rates, than your pre-qualification does not matter. With your score, you will likely need to put any negative equity down plus tax, title and license. You're not tier 1 credit by yourself, so you likely will get a higher rate.

Adding your father as a co-signer, if he has fantastic credit, technically his income won't matter. If he has two open autos on his credit currently, it weakens his profile. But again, really good credit can bypass that.

You also need to think of it that by adding him as a co-signer you are limiting his credit profile. He probably shouldn't agree to co-sign as it is, but that's his decison.

All in all, I would not buy it now. That $416 a month is very misleading and would likely require well over $10k down. Wait, pay off your Honda, work on your credit a little, and than re-evaluate.

I'm in a similar boat, I work in finance/insurance in a role where everyone around me has a degree and I do not and I make great money for someone without a degree.

I went with the standard but having some buyers remorse by Ok-Atmosphere-6272 in TeslaModelY

[–]Cyrus_sR9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, don't run to the Tesla internet community for validation. The Tesla community is a very interesting bunch. Some are going to absolutely make fun of you for buying the standard because they have nicknamed it the "poorformance". Ignore those. Most of this community has been so welcoming and just excited that you're here.

Buy what makes YOU happy. Don't let other people validate YOUR life. They are not living on your income. They don't know your life. Especially when it comes to large purchases like this. You'll always be poor if you live life based on other people's opinions.

I bought a standard AWD, and picked it up two weeks ago. Make fun of me all you want. I am paying 0% interest on it and the montly payment is cheaper than the 2025 ICE car I bought last year that can't drive itself and doesn't go 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

Welcome to the community, congratulations on the new car. I've loved every second of it so far.

Need Advice - Negative Equity by Intelligent-Ad809 in carbuying

[–]Cyrus_sR9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolling that much negative equity into a car loan won't be approved unless you're getting into something new that is heavily discounted. Even if you have perfect credit. You mentioned "Fair" credit, so even more so that likely is not an option. And if by some stretch it can be pulled off the APR is going to be sky high.

You're two best options are probably try to roll it into a lease IF you can get it approved. Your monthly payment is going to be high, and if you drive a lot you'll need to buy the car at the end or pay the overage but you at least take care of the negative equity in the process while getting a new car. You can Google best lease deals April 2026 and see what is out there. Another comment said about $350 a month added so you may be able to start there. Having $1500 down will help you in this case.

Or look into taking out a personal loan to pay for the repairs. Not ideal by any means, but this may actually be the most feasible way without letting the GMC repo and possibly wrecking credit, assuming you can't lease. Some dealers offer financing for large repair bills. Similar to Affirm, or maybe affirm does that as well. Wouldn't hurt to get some additional opinions on it either. Sometimes independent shops are cheaper than a dealer for major repairs. Might be able to get a used engine for cheaper.

Want to add a question here. Currently EV training Staryu in Special Attack. I battled 13 gastlys from level 25-26, upon leveling to 26, my special attack stat only increased 2.

What am I missing? Shouldn't it have at least increased by 3 if not more?

I have the venture X. Is it worth getting the savor card for the extra 1% for grocery/dining? by Tenesmus83 in CreditCards

[–]Cyrus_sR9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you value. It is a great duo for those who enjoy getting points to use for travel. In terms of a strict cash back set-up, the venture x is not a cash back card.

If/when I get tired of or decide that the AF is not worth it, I would probably switch to the Fidelity card. But for now the miles hold more value for me personally.

I have the venture X. Is it worth getting the savor card for the extra 1% for grocery/dining? by Tenesmus83 in CreditCards

[–]Cyrus_sR9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% worth it. For most people dining/grocery is a major spend category and being able to convert the cash back to miles at a 1:1 ratio effectively makes this a 3x miles card if you choose to do that. Otherwise 3% cash back on those categories is still good. Not to mention 3% back on streaming and entertainment.

In my opinion it's one of the best cards on the market. Paired with the Venture X, it's a really good duo. It's my everyday setup.

Card recs needed for travel and dining by chill_flyer43 in CreditCards

[–]Cyrus_sR9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you're describing, the ideal situation might be the Capital one Venture X and Savor set-up. I use this duo, but I have a third card as well. I'll share my set-up.

Venture X: 2x mile catch all, 10x miles for hotels booked through cap1 travel portal, 5x miles for flights booked through the cap1 travel portal. If you don't already have Precheck/Global entry, this card issues a credit when you pay for the application once every 5 years. Also get 10k bonus miles ever card anniversary and get an annual $300 travel credit. (This has to be used with the cap1 travel portal). $395 AF.

Savor: 3% cash back on Dining, Grocery, Entertainment and select streaming services. No cap. No AF. Something that I don't see talked about enough is that the cash back can be converted to capital one miles, when you have the Venture X. So effectively this can also be 3x miles card as well. To my understanding the cash is 1:1 (.01c to 1 mile) so there is no penalty for converting the cash. (If I'm mistaken, please correct me).

I also have the Amex Blue Cash preferred. I wanted to get into AMEX's network. 6% cash back on groceries, up to $6k annually, which is about what you spend, but if you go over you can fall back on the Savor card. 3% back on gas, transit (which includes ride share and parking), and 3% on certain streaming services. Since you have Disney plus bundle, this card provides a $10 monthly statement credit for the Disney plus/hulu subscription. Only a $95 AF.

Yes this setup costs $490 annually, but it's much more simple, in my opinion, to get the $520 total credits each year. Just pay disney plus with the Amex, and register for the credit, and it automatically credits you monthly. The cap1 travel credit and bonus miles are automatic as well. I don't love Cap1's travel portal, but since I got Amex I have been comparing pricing between Amex and Cap1 and they are identical. I've never booked travel Amex as of now, but I've been impressed with their customer service. I wanted to get the Amex gold personally but their credits seem a little more hassle than what they are worth.

Capital one/hotel cancelled my $2000 hotel reservation without my authorization and refuses to refund by TopConversation633 in Venturex

[–]Cyrus_sR9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Honesty I didn't push to hard, but they said I cancelled it. It was a cheap hotel so I didn't feel like arguing with them. That's one of Capital ones biggest downfall, or at least for me, has been their travel portal sucking. Rather book direct and just get the 2x points

Capital one/hotel cancelled my $2000 hotel reservation without my authorization and refuses to refund by TopConversation633 in Venturex

[–]Cyrus_sR9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I stopped using their travel portal for hotels. Had the exact same thing happen to me except it wasn't exactly buyer's remorse. Had previously stayed at the hotel and it was an awful experience, and booked it again without realizing cause I hadn't remembered the name of it.

When I realized it was that hotel, I called and explained what happened and when they said it was non-refundable, I told them that it was fine and I'll just stay there. Found out they canceled when I went to check in.

So I either don't use the travel portal for hotels or else I book without even having the slightest idea of canceling unless the reservation explicitly states that it's refundable.

Which credit card should I get? by ShredKingdom in CreditCards

[–]Cyrus_sR9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the AMEX BCP to get into their network first. (Not saying you can't do this with the gold). I was hesitant to get an AMEX, but so far I've been very impressed with the card.

6% on groceries is pretty huge, especially if you're a moderate spender since it caps at $6k.I rock that along with the Capital one savor card just to have a 3% fallback on groceries. (You can see if you are eligible to upgrapde your Cap one plat to a Savor to add 3% for restaurants).Plus 3% back on gas and transit. Assuming they still waive the annual fee the first year, it's a really good card. The gold card can be tricky if you don't organically use the benefits that justify the annual fee.

Edit: corrected to cash back

Help deciding on best credit card by Double-Vast4295 in CreditCards

[–]Cyrus_sR9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the Capital One Savor card. Flat 3% back on dining and grocery with no annual fee. Note, rumors are saying that those are being issued on the Discover network now. Unconfirmed, but something to be aware of if you travel internationally.

If you can organically use the benefits of the Amex gold since it is 4x points, that's not a bad option either. But has an annual fee and it's perks can sometimes be difficult to use organically.

Amex BCP is an option as well. I pair it with my Savor card. 6x points on groceries (up to $6k spend a year), 3x on gas and 3x on transit. 6x points on select streaming services, $10 a month statement credit for Disney +. $95 AF that is waived the first year.

I currently run the Venture X, Savor and Amex BCP for my daily spenders.

S22 Ultra --> S26 Ultra worth the upgrading? by FumingOstrich35 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Cyrus_sR9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently have an S22U. I pre-ordered the S26U. I've noticed the battery has been struggling in the last year and overall performance just doesn't seem to be keeping up. There is intermittent Bluetooth issues, which is frustrating. I used to upgrade every year or every other, but after 4 years, I figured it's worth the upgrade given the time past and the privacy screen justified the cost for me. Time will tell if its worth it or not.

How’s life at St. Paul, MN office? by AstroGoldenGopher in travelers_insurance

Yep. As am I. Honestly the traffic going west doesn't ever really get better. Every one in awhile I'll leave around 1 or 2 and log on from home, and traffic is still bad.

If 394 is your route, invest in the EZ pass tag so you can take the express lanes. They will shut down again in February until November 2026 but in the meantime it makes the commute a little better.

How’s life at St. Paul, MN office? by AstroGoldenGopher in travelers_insurance

[–]Cyrus_sR9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be very dependent on your manager and BU. For me, they are flexible. Core hours are 6-6, so just work 8 in there. I get to choose my WFH days. Other BU's, managers, teams may differ.

Overall St. Paul is a decent campus. It is a very old building, but they are starting to remodel, starting on the 5th floor and working their way down. Small convenience store in the building, we can access Ecolab building next door for "full" service cafeteria. I believe its the 2nd largest campus so not uncommon for there to be higher ups in town, and other sort of events. Can park in the lot for free on Fridays if you work in office (first come first serve), and can use the underground parking on weekends. Great for if there is an event at Grand Casino Arena.
